When music gets too cerebral, it loses something. Same goes for listening to it.

If you don't like Zwan, that's fine. But don't go lamenting this like you are owed the greatest album in the history of rock from these guys.

I've been to three Zwan shows - two of the SoCal shows and the Columbus show. Everytime I saw them they appeared to be having fun, rocking out, and getting a good audience response (well, maybe the Roxy excluded).

If they wanted to do things differently, they would. For all the endless wankery and blathering in this post, you can not deny that.

If Dave Pajo or Matt Sweeney didn't like the way the band was going, tried to talk about it with Billy, and weren't getting anything different, believe me, they'd break up.

No. Im not. I dont know who you are, so it wasnt right for me to assume that you were a young 20-something lamenting about not being a teenager anymore. It was silly and wrong. But, after initial feelings of this thread, that "i wish I was a teenageer" comment fooled me, or I didnt interpret it right. My reaction was juvenile.

And I thought about it actually, and wanted to come on here before you did and try to clean up that comment and let you know I thought you had some really interesting observations, particularly the stuff about Billy not wanting to face himself. I projected that situation to myself, and did so immediately upon reading your comment about that. Whether Billy is "facing himself" or not is interesting in itself, but reading what you said just made me think of myself... and isnt that the beauty of Art...especially Billy's?

So, I hope that clears it up, if it can. I'd just as well have clear communication so that hurtful and spiteful feelings dont get felt, so that they dont get said.

x

don't get me wrong, I don't hate them, and they still might have something to say.
I'm not that radical on this all

but Djali Zwan only were a divertissment, nothing serious

I disagree, they could have put out a MILLION MILES FAR better record
and that's what makes me sick

Pajo and Sweeney won't break up since they're getting the exact same thing Billy wants and they do: a good time

and that is all just about all.
and this is just about a shame

Exactly. Now please don't second guess them. They want to have a good time. Why is this so hard to digest. They are making music from THEMSELVES. I can't object to that. I can only decide not to listen. But don't say that it's WRONG for them to do that.

not for them, for the audience

And art has always been a natural contract between an artist and a person in the audience, taking it seriously together with enjoying it

still, has I cleared up, I don't hate them or anything. I will still 'follow' them

After all it's right, the album isn't out, and baby jeesus could come to save Billy and us all geeks before february.
why not
C'mon...is it really all that far-fetched that Billy just chose a pretty middling single and that the others fare better. I don't think my favorite on any Pumpkins album is a single, so I don't expect this to be any different.

I'm just not going to be too quick to rush to judgement, probably not even after first listen.

threads like this will be the death of netphoria.

the difference is this: billy corgan is not in the smashing pumpkins anymore. He is not trying to build a new legacy, or out sell his pumpkin records. He put together a band he knew he would have fun in, they wrote a bunch of songs together and they recorded an album. I'm betting billy doesnt even care if the songs are his greatest work ever at this point, because everyone has different opinions no matter what so you do what you do and dont give a shit about all the over analytical ass holes running around talking about your legacy when the greatest thing they ever did was get 40 replies on a message board about your old band.
