MYSPACE CREATES SMASHING PUMPKINS TRIBUTE COMPILATION

Participating Bands *******: The Academy Is, The New Amsterdams, Panic! At The Disco, +44, Young Love, Ben Kweller, Test Your Reflex, The Bravery, Gliss, and Most Dangerous Race

LOS ANGELES—May 14, 2007—MySpace, in collaboration with Spin Magazine, today announced the upcoming release of a MySpace Smashing Pumpkins Tribute project featuring bands influenced by the legendary alternative rock act. MySpace, in collaboration with 10 bands, compiled the most meaningful Pumpkins tracks for each band to record and ******* on the album honoring the band’s contribution to the music industry. The multi-platform compilation is MySpace’s first tribute album.

“The Smashing Pumpkins is one of the most influential bands of the MySpace generation,” states Tom Anderson, co-founder and President of MySpace. “We’re thrilled to honor the Pumpkins with the company’s first tribute album.”

The MySpace Smashing Pumpkins Tribute project will be released online on Friday, May 18 through June 18 on each of the participating band’s MySpace profiles.

Through a partnership with Spin Magazine, the Smashing Pumpkins tribute CD will be *******d free with their July newsstand issue on sale June 26. The issue will also ******* an editorial feature on the Tribute project including conversations with the bands on their involvement with the compilation and the Pumpkins’ influence on their careers.

“Having had the unique perspective of playing in the band for two and a half years, I know firsthand what an amazing band the Smashing Pumpkins are,” said Matt Walker, former Pumpkins band member and project contributor on the track, “Signal To Noise” by The Most Dangerous Race. “I think their scope has still yet to be fully appreciated. It is nearly non-existent for a band to be that successful and at the same time be so artistically challenging and uncompromising in their vision. I have been given a great opportunity to record a new song written for, but not *******d on, Zeitgeist. It is an honor as a friend and a fan to contribute to this MySpace compilation.”

Completed track list *******s:

The Academy Is, “Mayonnaise”

The New Amsterdams, “Thirty-Three”

Panic! At The Disco, “Tonight, Tonight”

+44, “I Am One”

Young Love, “1979”

Ben Kweller, “Today”

Test Your Reflex, “Ava Adore”

The Bravery, “Rocket”

Gliss, “Rhinocerous”

Most Dangerous Race,“Signal to Noise”

Additional details on the MySpace Smashing Pumpkins Tribute project will be available shortly.

Snap, beat me to it.

So Matt Walker has been kept in the loop regarding the new album and is recording a Zeitgeist sessions track, not sure what to think...i'd rather hear it as a pumpkins track first.

Still, it seems the band are keeping up to date with the news now...although they haven't mentioned Tarantula and theres no sign of it appearing on their profile either

I vote we change the word 'poor' to the phrase 'So ungodly horrible that they will cause your ears to bleed and your spleen to rupture.'

The one band's contribution that I was interested in, is no longer on the comp.

Damnit.

"signal to noise" is a song that was written for zeitgeist by BC, but apparently BC took it out and gave it to Matt Walker's band "The Most Dangerous Race".. didn't you read your own article?

Damn, I was actually kind of interested in hearing how bad sucktones and 30stds from mars were going to butcher SP songs. The 'myspace generation,' is all emo bands. This makes me sad in the pants.
