Is Netphoria smarter than the rest of society?
I have just been reading those Ashlee Simpson messageboards and I am actually scared by how retarded most of the people are on there. I know most of them are pre-teen pop listeners but still.
And why does being loyal to Ashlee Simpson seem to be so closely related to loving Bush and hating John Kerry? so many of them mention it. Bush has done so much damage to the US internationally and people just can't see it and I don't understand why. So anyway, what I want to know is why does a Smashing Pumpkins message board attract a generally well informed and intelligent community compared to so many retarded messageboards out there? |

an answer to this question would obviously be warped by perception, so i'll compnsate for it and rank netphoria in about the 80th percentile.
i also think 'well-informed' is a vast overstatement. well read i'd accet, but definitely not well informed. |

This place has a bunch of smart people, and some are more clever and smarter than say the average person. but there are a lot of people that just think too much of themselves, and are not actually "all that"
People in general are fucking stupid anyways. At least I think so. |

i dont think its that netphoria is smarter, i think its that the average age on here is probably early 20's and the average age on that other board is probably 14-15.
that and the pumpkins fanbase was generally moody/angsty/pensive while id imagine a pop singer would attract a somewhat different crowd. tho thats not necessarily true, i mean, we did have the o-board's legion of idiots running around for a bit |

There is a difference between book smarts and street/real world smarts. Many book smart, honor role type people I have met are extremely ignorant and naive with it comes to real world issues, like they are not even connected to reality, almost like living in a vacum so many of them live such close minded lives. How does that saying go? The A+ students always end up working for the C- students. |

calculus is a breeze to me because its all intelligence and no memorization, but rhetoric and history are just not worth my time. i think that im the smartest person ive ever met. the rest are just dumb about understanding things and have moronic tastes. sooner or later if i talk to anyone that i think is intelligent long enough they disappoint me |
