jk I've heard all their albums but I don't know enough to tell which songs are actually a Paul song and so on
I always really liked Lennon's voice and when they play more Rockabilly esque stuff and when the Indian instruments come in can't really listen to the more classical influenced type stuff or anything with piano tbh |

Ringo gets so much shit but they would have been nothing without him. He is a perfect drummer for that band: unobtrusive, musical, raucous when needed, and most importantly, provides that special looseness that rendered their otherwise cold/cerebral melodic experiments human, approachable, and fun
In fact I've been looking for a drummer like ringo ever since I started writing songs but every drummer I meet wants to hit as many drums as hard and as many times as possible in three and a half minutes, and it just sux so much fux I've essentially given up and just tap out basic shit on the "Liverpool" preset for GarageBand if I ever need a drums |

i do love that george harrison was such an enormously talented individual, but still chose to play a supporting role for who were better songwriters at the time. and he did it admiringly. and, when it was his time to shine (circa Abbey Road) he basically provided the best songs on the record. hard not to have tremendous respect for that.
but on the other hand, as others have stated - lennon is the cool guy pick (and he had the talent of delivering a lyric that tears straight into your heart), but paul f'n mccartney is bar none one of the most accomplished songwriters/musicians ever. his good compositions are simply unparalleled. he thinks in complete sequences of raw timeless melody, not in chords and notes and scales. it's impossible to really separate the four of them because that's what made them what they were, but if there was ONE person in that band whose talent was a bit more special than the others - it was mccartney. |

I mean he was kind of an alright lyricist with occasional streaks of brilliance (Blackbird) but his true strength was writing timeless melodies and accompanying it with smart and inventive harmony. his compositions are like architecture. and he was probably the one best melodic bass players ever. his words never really matched up with Lennon's poignant lyricism but you gotta admit that even at his cheesiest, McCartney's lyrics worked perfectly with the music.

John Lennon is the "cool" pick but happily I have found at a certain age you just realize Paul is better at everything and was a more decent person for most of his life despite being a slytherin
George is the most underrated and had the best post-Beatles career |
