Default really great artists that you found out about on Netphoria

There was this guy on here a few years ago who recommended the band Civil Twilight. And they ended up being a revelation to me. They sound like a modern and more moody version of U2. Vocally and musically. I think he left because Trots was bullying him.

Sonic Johnny recommended me the alternative R&B / EDM group Collarbones which turned out to be really great. I probably listen to them almost as much as the Weeknd or PartyNextDoor

That is the right fucking answer. Kill Hannah are awesome. They are like a sexy version of Smashing Pumpkins.

I've mentioned them a thousand times and I know it's not the type of music most people here like, but The Everybodyfields. Got into them because redbull posted their cover of Today saying it was the best SP cover ever, and they became one of my favorite groups. Can't believe that was like 8 fuckin years ago

Yeah I think I found out about Joy Formidable from here too. Through Trots. I forgot about that. That might actually be the one redeeming thing that I remember about him.

I've tried getting into Joy Formidable because everybody reps them but it sounds like pretty middle-of-the-road indie pop rock to me. Like, cool, it's a little shoegazey and pretty catchy, but it doesn't really do it for me.

Singer has a cute haircut tho

I think it might had been Sonic Johnny that had turned me onto Nothing and Airs.

RIP

I agree with this. They are good musicians but they don't live up to the hype

They're not really indie pop. Recent Indie pop would be like Pains of Being Pure at Heart. They are closer related to Nirvana or Smashing Pumpkins or Sonic Youth.

And also they have an amazing singer and an incredible drummer so I definitely think they are worth the hype.

I tend to agree with the critique of Joy Formidable in here. Their initial EP and debut LP are fantastic, with some pretty good b-sides along the way. The depth of the songwriting well ran a bit dry with their 2nd LP.

Just got the new one Hitch yesterday. Upon first listen: 12 songs, half of them I can like for now, maybe a few other songs that can grow on me and I'll actually like them better later. It's better than Wolf for sure.

Just like SP, the best muso is the drummer and they should lean on him more often and do so here and there on the new album.

Wolf's Law isn't a bad album at all. It's not a step down. It's like the difference between Bleach and Nevermind. It's a bit more radio friendly at times than the Big Roar but it still has a lot of good songs and good production.

their songs just aren't that great. the level of musicianship is very high and I think the intensity they reach is really impressive. I only heard their first album and it's something that I go back to from time to time, but not something that begs to be listened to over and over.
