It's not bad but I feel like his electronic stuff is too conservative. He writes and produces as if still constrained by the standard rock band format.

Half great, half meh is about right.

I have a soft spot for Pretty Pretty Star because of McMurderson's cartoon where he used it and he had BC, JI and JC celebrating Christmas and then if you click on it it cuts to D'Arcy cutting up lines of coke

Just listened to it.

Probably for the 20th time and I immediately forget everything about it once it ends.

The whole album is like the vox & drum tracks are mixed with the wrong synths, guitars and bass. It’s a mess.

The sort of thing a dumb person imagining an avant garde artist might produce, which having learned more about Bill over the last 20 years, is accurate.

You're thinking of Declarations of Faith, "Maybe we were born to kiss another, Maybe we were born to run forever" but it's not the exact same melody.
