Move back to Chicago? Doesn’t he already live there? Maybe I’m mistaken but didn’t they recently announce that they bought “pumpkinland 2.0” in Chicago and plan on hitting the studio in May? I think I also read somewhere that Jimmy is relocating his family back to Chicago. And they already announced that they will probably play Chicago in the fall.

1. He hates Chicago audiences now

2. He's planning something and doesn't want to rush it

3. Maybe Chicago is too much... Billy-James-Darcy-Jimmy for his liking, and can't find the nerve to shatter the past with SP2

Chicago fans believe that SP was a band forced upon the masses prior to and shortly after Gish by record companies. SP always had a slot as an opening act and even headlining even when it was undeserved thanks to people tied to big wigs tied to record companies. That makes for a tough crowd to win over. Especially now with all the indie snobs.

It has to be this one - I think the best bets are a residency in which he plays a whole series of albums..similar to the Cure's Trilogy concerts in Berlin...
