I love Glynis. Top 20 song. Maybe top 10. The lyrics on SPFC are wrong. At least at this part, it should be:
My god is subtle and great He can't be wounded By the gossip and the hate of the frightened Who turn their backs on the sick, yeah |

I love the live version but the production is weird/terrible on the studio version

I live in the same town Glynis is from. It's kind of sad no one really knows about her.

Billy's falsetto in the No Alternative version stands out (I believe) from any other record.

"Her name is Glynis...yes" always seemed like such a lazy lyric to me

Remember back in the day the only way to hear songs like this was to buy the "No Alternative" cd and/or video?
Good times. |

I don't mind the quietness, but the first half of the song until all the instruments come in has all this background hiss, and the bass tone is super boomy and horrible

I really like the way the 2012 edition sounds because it takes the bass down to a reasonable level but it lacks the high note of the No Alternative version. Kind of a bummer.

It's more the wholly fictional dichotomy between "drugs" vs "alcohol" that irritates me; I can accept that my anti-alcohol opinion is going to be unpopular here
It's been so successfully beaten into our skulls that alcohol is not a drug that antipot drinkers will actually adopt a superior attitude toward people they deride as "drug users," when alcohol is, objectively speaking, a far more dangerous substance It's called ethanol, and it's a psychoactive drug. Fact u can innocently sip it from commercially available pretty containers to ingest it (or that it enjoys a singular level of cultural acceptance) makes it no less so |
