i've seen this in the past and liked it
but I don't agree with his note choices on the bass
the different root notes change the chord progression, and it makes me turn my head in a bad way every time.

Agree with this. It sounds real good except for the parts that lead up to the harmonica solos ("Ask me what I think..."). The bass playing just drags the song in completely the wrong direction there.
