Come on, man

We're talking about a band that was criticized for being so slick and heavily produced ie artificial

There are lots rock bands that are really focused on having an organic sound but SP is not one of them and that's what makes this a joke

many studios use pro-tools for the multitracking abilities it provides, without exploiting its full editing potential or having to introduce electronic elements or software instruments.

I wouldn't say 'usually' because most studios don't even have a tape machine.

I get your point
but there's a lot more albums made in studios that don't have tape machines then those that do. like ten fold.

I'm sure baseball will be phased out completely in the next couple of decades

boomers are dying, only grandpas and wannabe grandpas like baseball. its like boxing was in the 90s: starting a significant downturn in relevance.

This is likely true. Footballs future is in a pretty dire spot right now. Science regarding concussions is getting more and more concrete and it's becoming increasingly clear that footballs just incredibly dangerous and not worth the toll it takes on a persons well-being... And once the lawsuits start coming outta the woodowork the leagues gonna be in a bit of a pickle .

Good point, I suppose it's all about what kind of web following a group can create these days... Which sucks if you're a musician who doesn't give a shit about social media.

I guess bands could always just go the Fun. route and put a period at the end of their names

Steve Albini bought like a truckload of NOS Agfa tape a few years back and claims he has enough that Electrical Audio will be set to record analog until we're all dead. I'm sure he's got the tape machines taken care of somehow too.

Right on, and thanks for the voice of reason vs. the rampant generalization/speculating itt about fucking tape machines. People still like to hit tape for a lot of reasons, not least because it's a tool to change the sound; why would any such tool go obsolete?

That's like suggesting they're going to stop making wah pedals because "nobody's using them these days."

Music that I really love and believe in and think is extraordinarily honest and beautiful doesn’t always become popular.
