Good post. There's a lot of battles ordinary people face each day that Jimmy doesnt really have to concern himself with. |

despite any good points that might have been made, jimmy chamberlin is definitely a better musician and a better person than billy fucking corgan.
listened to the complex album yesterday for the first time in ages. it's not like a personal favourite or anything but it's just so easily on a higher level than anything billy has done in forever |

I think jimmy might have mentioned the practice thing because so many people have this misconception that musicians in bands party hard and don't have to work.
Even if he focuses on music now without having to worry about paying the bills, he's only in that situation because at some stage he took the risk every aspiring musician takes, and spent years of his life practising, lugging his drums around, carrying his crap into and out of venues, setting up and packing up, hardly getting paid, not getting paid, sleeping in a van, being hungry... I don't think anyone would deny how much luck is involved in becoming a professional musician. The odds are terrible and everyone knows that. But I think he means that he became a professional musician and remains a professional musician because he's willing to put in a lot of practice hours, not because he was born being able to drum. I don't think he meant to imply he isn't extraordinarily lucky. |

Everyone comes out with stupid shit when they're young. Most of the time when I look back I cringe.
