Lightbulb The drum machine sounds on The Future Embrace

are similar to the drum machine sounds on Blinding Lights by The Weeknd. except Blinding Lights sounds beautiful and The Future Embrace does not

who's with me

the day we actually get FutureEmbrace drum-sound apologists is the day I think it's finally time to shut the forum down

Weeknd's production is pretty much always shit-hot, haven't actually heard the new album yet tho

Tell this WP Corgan on his next Q&A as a suggestion for the Future Embrace reissue.

the weeknd production is much tighter than billys/

my 2cents:
billy was too focused on his 4 voice modular method drowned and blurred by the single guitar take through the eventide. TFE sound really is dominated by the eventide. too scared to multitrack guitars, the single take& effects are misplacingly dominant.

He's already gloated about how people tell him that TFE was ahead of its time

I like TFE. Its pretty unique sonically, Sure it has some real stinkers on there, but its not generic to my ears.

the guitar sound & live setup maybe. but most of that album sounds like a remastered 80s demo

Adore & the spacier stuff on Machina, however, probably make more sense in the current "musical landscape" than most of what he's currently doing. i guess something like With Sympathy isn't completely far off

i'd say the main thing that has this sort of drum sound working in the Weeknd song is that it actually sounds deliberate & contributes to the energy of the song. TFE is one of the biggest "oh yeah we need drums on this don't we" sounding albums of all time

the only thing remotely similar about these two songs is that they are electronic music in the same minor key.

i'm hoping the other two things you know are based on more substance.

he was saying that TFE was way ahead of its time literally when it came out, and that people would recognize it later. this dude is so lost in his own bullshit I don't know whether to laugh or choke
