Machina I is fine how it is, but Machina II needs to be mixed properly from the original masters.

I agree. I know it has it's own particular sound, but why is every Pumpkins album (studio) have a mixing problem?

I can't believe it's 2017 and we still don't have this. Feels like it really might never come out.

Both albums were already quite painful to start with. Now in the rare event that he would actually follow through with this re-release, the chances of it being remixed / remastered well are very low. I'm not getting my hopes up either way.

Don Brewer probably wants royalties and co-writer's credit for his lyrics being used in "Cash Car Star".

He should do a thing where he dedicates a whole month to a particular album. That would be great. Or maybe even an animated cartoon series based on machina. I don't know, these are just crazy ideas I have that probably won't ever materialize.

Reposting a decent theory from Reddit:

EMI had the Pumpkins rights and an enthusiastic team helping make it happen. Then the music portion was sold to Vivendi/Universal Music Group and the publishing to Sony/ATV. I suspect either Universal has no interest in continuing the Pumpkins reissues or there is a red tape divide between Universal and Sony, since the publishing side (Sony) legally must be compensated for the use of copyrighted publishing materials present in the use of Pumpkins recordings (i.e. mechanical royalties for the recording itself, but also publishing royalties for the song contents as well). Something tells me Universal and Sony probably don't play nicely together.

Billy could have published the 2000 Farewell-Show of the PUMPKINS at the METRO since over ten years, as the band got the release rights from EMI back only a few years later.

So why didn't he do it?
-Was it his feud with James Iha, not to bow out from him and Jimmy, but thanking on stage the absent D'arcy for her time with the band?
-Was it the reunion of the band seven years later with half of them being new musicians?
-Did Billy then want to release the stuff only as a bonus to the reissues of the studio recordings?

A luxury version of the MACHINA album would contain two DVD's minimum by the length of the concert. Then there might be different mixes of the two known MACHINA albums in new orders. This could make the MACHINA box the by far most expensive one.

Wouldn't it therefore be more useful now to release something from the Arising tour with D'arcy's last performances on the luxury edition?
And to put out the 2000 show at the Metro now finally alone on a DVD set?

Metro show is never coming out at this point. Now that the band has been "back together" for 10 years he's probably ruined the market for it tbh.

In 2007/2008 he insisted it was coming out soon and things were moving along now that him and Jimmy were reunited

lol

Instead of working with the other original members of the Smashing Pumpkins Billy will record another solo album this year, with lame cover music.

We don't have to imagine reality...

Maybe it was a spontanious thought inspired by your invitation?
But maybe more by my John Lennon-tinnitus...

What if, what is isn't true?
What are you going to do?
Digging for the feel of something new
What if, what is isn't you?
Does that mean you've got to lose?
