Moby: I dated Natalie Portman.
Natalie Portman: We were never dating, he just hung around me and creeped me the hell out.
Moby: She's right and I apologize for misconstruing events.
Fuzzy: They were dating.

What I think I’ve figured out though is that even though Billy “wrote all the songs and played all the instruments,” the people surrounding him were absolutely crucial. Without brilliant co-conspirators like Butch, Alan Moulder, Flood, D’Arcy, and James.....Billy is fucking useless as a songwriter, producer, and performer. Period. The past 20 years are proof.

One of the things I’ve learned as a professional musician is that the bassist, producer, drummer, engineer...all these people are hugely responsible for the final product even if they don’t get credit or play a single
note on the final mix. Martin Hannett creating the Joy Division sound is another great example of this.

Billy thought it was all him and has learned the hard way that coming into the practice room with a skeleton of a song is only the beginning. He can’t finish the job himself and 90% of people can’t.
Yeah but Joy Division as Warsaw were still a fucking incredible group

A lot of bands seem to be getting more and more obscure among teenagers.

Great example: I saw the new Spiderman movie which was packed with mostly high schoolers. There was a funny scene where the intro of Back in Black comes on the radio and the lead character goes "I love Led Zeppelin". The other character looks at him like he is crazy. No one in the audience got it. I ask my 2 nephews who I took to see it and they have never heard of either AC DC or Led Zeppelin band.

Kids live in a social media bubble and know nothing outside of it.

It's interesting that with time, the amount of singles aired by bands dwindles and gets smaller and smaller.

With the Pumpkins, I never hear anything from Gish anymore as well as Rocket, Zero, 33, Ava Adore, Perfect, Everlasting Gaze, Stand Inside Your Love ETC and many of those were big rotation songs in their heyday.

The same goes for groups like Green Day as I never hear She, Geek Stink Breath, Walking Contradiction, Hitchin' a ride, Minority ETC...

Little known fact: Thing from The Addams Family has a black cousin who hung out with Moby. Its name is Thong.

Rumors abound that the real reason Natalie broke up with Moby was because he opted to go out late to drink, brawl and gamble with Thong; instead of staying in with her to cuddle up on a cosy sofa and watch re-runs of Who's The Boss starring the incomparable Tony Danza. Moby and Thong were like brothers; inseparable.

The final straw was when she caught Thong jacking Moby off when she returned unexpectedly early from a ballet class with Mila Kunis. Furious, she packed her bags and caught the first flight to Chicago to be soothed by Billy, leaving a naked, embarrassed Moby and Thong to have a threesome with Mila, who thought the whole thing was hilarious. Natalie never spoke to Mila for years. Moby consoled himself with drugs and playing charades with Thong.

A movie was made about their relationship called Black Thong, but the script was severely edited after legal action was threatened by The Addams Family Estate. It was eventually released as Black Swan with the more controversial and raunchier scenes extracted.

Thong moved to Seattle and became a renowned juggler and guitarist. Moby blamed him for the disaster with Natalie and vowed never to have a disembodied, black hand as a fuck-buddy ever again.

Some say that Thong had a hand in writing Moby's best songs, which is why he could never repeat the success of Play once Thong left him, although Moby has always staunchly denied it.

I heard 33 and Ava Adore on a segment they do on my local radio station at 12:20 every day... I forget what it's called. They go back to a certain year or whatever. For Ava Adore they talked all about the weird one shot video thing they did. I usually only hear the segment once a week (cuz I have an appointment near that time), but within the past 2 months I heard both of them - so they probably get played really often on there. Otherwise it's usually Today, Disarm, Landslide, BWBW, or Tonight, Tonight.

I've heard She, Hitchin' a Ride and Minority plenty of times. But it's usually When I Come Around, Welcome to Paradise, Basket Case, Good Riddance, or Bvld of Broken Dreams. Once in a while American Idiot or Holiday

and now i'm going to listen to american idiot

Whatever you guys do, don't let her learn of your disdain. I'm sure she'd be crushed.

Yeah, those are the primary ones that I hear too, with of course 1979. I don't hear Landslide aside from at grocery store feeds though.

With radio stations, they'll have their primary tracks from bands that they air and the rest they'll rotate in depending on the results of focus group polling, so sometimes singles lost in the sands of time can pop back up in certain markets.

But there's definitely a lot of massive hits from the 90's that are essentially left off the air today. Like with Everclear, the only song I still hear is Santa Monica and they were like darlings of the mid to late 90's alt-rock radio. Or take a track like Big Bang Baby by Stone Temple Pilots. That was a MASSIVE hit in it's day and I haven't heard it aired in ages. Same with Gel from Collective Soul, Geek Stink Breath by Green Day, Why Don't You Get A Job by Offspring, Pretty Noose by Soundgarden, Angels and the Silences by Counting Crows, Misery by Soul Asylum.

These were all major hits in their time that rock radio has seemingly waved goodbye too.
