walgreens and similar places will do it but they have to ship it out. the 24 hour thing isn't really a thing anymore

it is possible to do color processing at home but it's significantly more complicated and time consuming than B&W

there are some walgreens around here that claim to have one-hour processing, but when you show up two hours later they say, "oh, it's not done. there is no one here who can use the machine, but they'll be ready tomorrow; call ahead to be sure. thanks for shopping at walgreens."

It's legal here too. But most people I know don't like random strangers taking photos of their children without their permission. Having someone taking photos at a playground, of random kids playing, when they have no kids of their own, is concerning for parents. Most parents don't like having images of their children shared online, and there is an unspoken agreement that you don't share pics of someone else's kids unless you ask them first.

I would say it's definitely bad etiquette to take photos of kids you don't know regardless of the law or whatever

It might offer you a two birds solution, providing faster shots with a heavier grain using the same old T-MAX 400 or HP5 Plus you can probably still get at the local shops. |

I tried spooling some red-scale cassettes earlier today in the bathroom. How little light is enough to ruin film, though? I feel like there was too much light coming in through the crack between the door and the frame.
Also pretty sure I totally ruined this roll I tried to Windex because I left it to dry in the cabinet, but then forgot that I did that and opened the cabinet to grab something. Quote:
Well, I thought I've done it, but then I realized that, if you're pushing film, you have to push the entire roll. I would change the ISO setting for darker shots, because I didn't realize that it doesn't work that way at the time. |

You do have to be more careful taking pictures of kids on the street, but by that I don't mean "be more sneaky" - you have to act like you aren't doing anything wrong, smile to acknowledge adults that might be with them, etc. The worst you can do is use a telephoto lens and stalk them like a creep.
These are some of my favorites I took: I take pictures of other people too: |

don't take photos of other humans for kicks or for a hobby and especially don't take photos of kids.
It just feels sad and exploitative...borders on voyeurism. |

Thanks all!
Vixnix, that's such a bizarre way to look at things. I won't disagree that there is such a thing as exploitative photography - taking pictures of random homeless people for quick ~artistic~ points comes to mind - but you're basically saying all street photography is out of bounds. I'm not even saying my street photography is any good in the grand scheme of things, but if you didn't allow anyone to practice it and try it out, a lot of of good art wouldn't exist. |
