Talking Songs about your town!

OK, this is actually a somewhat valid post.
I finally got ahold of the ONLY song that will ever be written about my town, Pullman WA.....some local white dude rapper named tyrant. it's fucking hilarious!

ummm in Try, Try, Try alt. version Billy sings "In Houston, on a downer buzz"...and Beck says "heading back to Houston, to get me some pants" in one of his songs off Midnite Vutlures (or is it Odelay?). But I don't know of any about the city specifically. what a shame.

"everett" by the band Tree

you man I remember the last time I saw you
I picked you up thumbing in Everett
skateboarding around in a pair of high heel shoes,
a miniskirt , needle in your arm
you were fucked up!
what are you talking about what are you talking about man?
I've never been to everett! I've never been- uhh

ahh no never take me to a based out party,
everyone doing crack, doing line you spill your beer
in some dealers pile he puts you down
a gun to your head but right then the cops break in
and drag you away
what do you mean? I thought I already told you that I've never been to Everett!
I've never been overdosed and on your knees again how will you survive uhh - ahh no NEVER!

...lovely eh

Talking

Will Smith ; MiamiYeah Yeah Yeah Yeah
Miami, uh, uh
Southbeach, bringin the heat, uh
Haha, can y'all feel that
Can y'all feel that
Jig it out, uh

Here I am in the place where I come let go
Miami the base and the sunset glow
Everyday like a mardi gras, everybody party all day
No work all play, okay
So we sip a little something, lay to rest the spill
Me an Charlie at the bar runnin up a high bill
Nothin less than ill, when we dress to kill
Everytime the ladies pass, they be like (Hi Will)
Can y'all feel me, all ages and races
Real sweet faces
Every different nation, Spanish, Hatian, Indian, Jamaican
Black, White, Cuban, and Asian
I only came for two days of playing
But everytime I come I always wind up stayin
This the type of town I could spend a few days in
Miami the city that keeps the roof blazin

Chorus:

Party in the city where the heat is on
All night, on the beach till the break of dawn
Welcome to Miami
Buenvenidos a Miami
Bouncin in the club where the heat is on
All night, on the beach till the break of dawn
I'm goin to Miami
Welcome to Miami

Verse 2: Will Smith

Yo I heard the rainstorms ain't nothin to mess with
But I can't feel a drip on the strip, it's a trip
Ladies half-dressed, fully equipped
And they be screamin out, (Will we loved your last hit)
So I'm thinkin I'ma scoot me somethin hot
In this south-sea merengue melting pot
Hottest club in the city, and it's right on the beach
Temperature get to ya, it's about to reach
Five-hundred degrees
In the carribean seas, with the hot mommies
Screamin (Aii poppy)
Everytime I come to town, they be spottin me
In the drop Bentley, ain't no stoppin me
So, cash in your door
We flow to this fashion show
Pound for pound anywhere you go
Yo, ain't no city in the world like this
An if you ask how I know I gots ta feed the film

Chorus

Verse 3: Will Smith

Don't get me wrong, Shytown got it goin on
An New York is the city that we know don't sleep
An we all know that L.A. and Philly stay jiggy
But on the sneak, Miami bringin heat for real
Y'all don't understand
I never seen so many *******an women with cinnimon tans
Mierda, this is the plan
Take a walk on the beach, draw a heart in the sand
Gimmie your hand
Damn, you look sexy
Let's go to my yacht, in the West Keys
Ride my jetskis, loungin in the palm trees
Cause you gotta have cheese for the summerhouse piece on southbeach
Water so clear, you can see to the bottom
Hundred-thousand dollar cars, e'ybody got em
Ain't no surprise in the club to see Sly, Stallone
Miami, my second home

Chorus to fade

Show Me What You Got

keepin it real
world wide baby
limp bizkits in the house
so bring it on
i'd like to dedicate this song to you
for makin my dreams come true
for the millinum
are you ready?
then get the fuck up
Where you at Jacksonville,
Rochester., Louisville,
Columbia, Hartford,
Milwaukee, and Lewiston, Maine?
where you at Providence, Nashville,
Memphis, Lauderdale,
Portland, Orlando, Chicago, and Frisco?
I left my heart in Austin with Mary Campbell.
Got lost in Boston lookin' for the tea party.
Met a child molester in Worchester
Need a Kleenex every time I'm leavin' Phoenix.
I get silly when I play in Philly.
Limp Bizkit committee down in Kansas City.
Never know what I'm in for when I'm play in Denver.
Hard rock don't stop down in Vegas.
In Cincinnati the girls call me daddy
and I probably aint leavin' the next time I'm in Cleveland.
Found my lucky coin in Des Moine
and spit on a boy named Tina in Pasadena.
We get the swing from new Orleans.
Ft Worth and Dallas we toast when we're tippin' up the challis.
Tulsa, St. Louis, Sacto, Mesa, Norfolk, Lawrence, Minneapolis,
St. Paul, North Hampton, Detroit, Omaha, New York, LA,
what can i say, i cant name'm all.
so somebody,
anybody,
everybody
get the fuck up!!
show me what you got
Whooo ha
Show me what you got
hey ladies
whos hot whos not
who? who?
whos hot whos not
i can't help but believe in these friends
these bands
these stories
and the places that i've been
I thank God, mom & dad,
Adrian, for the love I feel inside,
Jordan, my phat ass band,
with out'em I'd be nothin' but a pumpkin shoved inside a can.
with out the fans there wouldn't be no show
and if that was really so than life would really blow.
To the firm, you always got my back.
Korn for the love and the swappin' of the tracks.
My brother Cory d,
my man terry date, we brought it to the plate and you made it sound great.
Scott Weiland the melody man,
if you cant sing it nobody can.
woo tang clan skills from the method.
The worlds best mc kills on this record.
Slim shady crazy ass cracker.
Staind, a brand new drug for your brain.
Les Claypool, for actin' like a fool
and all of the bands for the demos that were kool.
im so grateful for this life of mine.
The ones I didn't thank
I will some other time
now i just want somebody
anybody,
everybody
get the fuck up!!
show me what you got
yeeee ha
Show me what you got
hey ladies
whos hot whos not
who? who?
whos hot whos not
whos...........hot?
i've been around this world and then some.
dum ditty dum kid where you comin' from?
I went from the garage
to steppin' on these stages.
Outrageous rhymes left my mind and soon became contagious.
An mc with bad habits I am.
I see a mic then I grab it,
scary aint it?
comin' raw with no corrections.
savin' all perfection's
for what I do with my erections so dream on!!

Thumbs down *gags*

Riding on the City of New Orleans,
Illinois Central Monday morning rail
Fifteen cars and fifteen restless riders,
Three conductors and twenty-five sacks of mail.
All along the southbound odyssey
The train pulls out at Kankakee
Rolls along past houses, farms and fields.
Passin' trains that have no names,
Freight yards full of old black men
And the graveyards of the rusted automobiles.

CHORUS:
Good morning America how are you?
Don't you know me I'm your native son,
I'm the train they call The City of New Orleans,
I'll be gone five hundred miles when the day is done.

Dealin' cards with the old men in the club car.*
Penny a point ain't no one keepin' score.
Won't you pass the paper bag that holds the bottle
Feel the wheels rumblin' 'neath the floor.
And the sons of pullman porters
And the sons of engineers
Ride their father's magic carpets made of steam.*
Mothers with their babes asleep,
Are rockin' to the gentle beat
And the rhythm of the rails is all they dream.*

CHORUS

Nighttime on The City of New Orleans,
Changing cars in Memphis, Tennessee.
Half way home, we'll be there by morning
Through the Mississippi darkness
Rolling down to the sea.
And all the towns and people seem
To fade into a bad dream
And the steel rails still ain't heard the news.
The conductor sings his song again,
The passengers will please refrain
This train's got the disappearing railroad blues.

Good night, America, how are you?
Don't you know me I'm your native son,
I'm the train they call The City of New Orleans,
I'll be gone five hundred miles when the day is done.

last year i went to a david usher/finger eleven concert and the opener was a mount pearl band called "trimmed naval beef." they were a rap/funk act, not terribly good. but they had songs about lots of stuff only people from mount pearl would get, like cruising around town on the bus with the creepy old guy who hangs at the mall with jr. high kids (the infamous Donny Dunn). i've been trying to get mp3s of theirs since i saw them, with no luck.

Default Roma Girl

all my love for my roma girl
all my love for my roma girl

the midnight charge of paul revere on a bed of down
she tied her hair up and twist the knot with a painted pin
i know i'm gonna die someday
so should i keep control
of my 21st century soul
you gotta walk the mile somehow
so why not keep control
of my lonely aching broken charred soul

all my love for my roma girl
all my love for my roma girl

i broke my word upon the rocky shards of her heart
she slit my throat and sold my coat to a passerby
i'm never gonna jump, i'm never gonna learn
i'm never gonna run, i'm never gonna burn
i'm never gonna show the whites of my eyes
i'm never gonna love, i'm never gonna leave
i'm never gonna cut, i'm never gonna bleed
i'm never gonna let it pass, 'cause now it's done

all my love for my roma girl
all i love for my roma girl

and state the love now
state the love upon her ways
she's at my back with
[?] silk inside her purse
i know i'm gonna die someday
so why not keep control
you gotta walk the mile somehow
so why not let her go
i'm locked inside my lonely, aching 21st century soul

all my love for my roma girl
all i love for my roma girl
all my love for my roma girl
all i love for my roma girl

well ?

Vic Chestnutt- "Bug" off of West of Rome

The song talks about the DAR school in Walhalla, South Carolina. I am from Walhalla. The chorus goes- "Walhalla's pinned to the edge of south caroline, where interstate travel free's a man from China. A hotel filled with Pakastanies and a front porched filled with greasy-greasy grannies." One of those greasy-greasy grannies is my aunt who used to clean rooms at the hotel. Funny shit.

There are songs named "Chapel Hill" by Orbit and Sonic Youth. In addition, a lot of stuff by Chapel Hill bands, while not directly about the city, is about a lot of stuff that's happened here. Superchunk and Ben Folds write about this town all the time.

"Hello Birmingham"

hold me down
i am floating away
into the overcast skies
over my home town
on election day

what is it about birmingham?
what is it about buffalo?
did the hate filled wanna build bunkers
in your beautiful red earth
they want to build them
in our shiny white snow

now i've drawn closed the curtain
in this little booth where the truth has no place
to stand
and i am feeling oh so powerless
in this stupid booth with this useless
little lever in my hand
and outside my city is bracing
for the next killing thing
standing by the bridge and praying
for the next doctor
martin
luther
king

it was just one shot
through the kitchen window
it was just two miles from here
if you fly like a crow
a bullet came to visit a doctor
in his one safe place
a bullet ensuring the right to life
whizzed past his kid and his wife
and knocked his glasses
right off of his face

and the blood poured off the pulpit
yeah the blood poured down the picket lines
yeah, the hatred was immediate
and the vengence was divine
so they went and stuffed god
down the barrel of a gun
and after him
they stuffed his only son

hello birmingham
it's buffalo
i heard you had some trouble
down there again
and i'm just calling to let to know
that someone understands

i was once escorted
through the doors of a clinic
by a man in a bulletproof vest
and no bombs went off that day
so i am still here to say
birmingham
i'm wishing you all of my best
oh birmingham
i'm wishing you all of my best
oh birmingham
i'm wishing you all of my best
on this election day

-Ani Difranco.

we suck.
