Dad Rock is a term for what a stereotypical Dad listens to, not any Rock that's old

My Dad loves Soundgarden and Pearl Jam, but he would never listen to The Fall

can you record your voice please, any sentence with you saying "post punk"

if you don't do it right, you won't be allowed to use "punk" "punk rock" or "post punk" on this board ever again.

you'll get a *****punk****** censoring, especially for you.

I picture Elph's dad getting up in the morning, putting on Jesus Christ Pose real loud, cracking an egg into his tall glass of southern comfort, knocking it back and then having a line of coke in the bathroom. Elph comes downstairs, button up shirt on, real serious "Hey dad i'm going out to look for Mark E Smith records and contemplate how bad everything before and after punk and post-punk music is" and wanders out the door.

"I dunno what happened to that kid, but I tell ya somethin ain't right" He says, before high fiving elph's mother and then they both play sweet duelling guitar solos on flying Vs.

basically if it's not cool to you, it's "dad rock".

never mind that it's possible for someone your dad's age to like post-punk.

My step Dad also likes Soundgarden and Pearl Jam.

They're the most unchallenging rock bands of that era pretty much

My Dad is typical southern conservative Dad.

The reason Dads like Soundgarden and Pearl Jam is because it's unpolitical, unchallenging, manly Rock.

The same reason my Grandpa likes Led Zep

why does "Rock" (uppercase R)

have to be "political and challenging"

also unmanly?
