Of American cities with 1 million or more people, it's not even close: The three worst cities are San Antonio, Houston, and Dallas the worst by far. I would rank Houston worse than the other two because the weather and traffic. San Antonio's saving grace is proxmity to Austin.

Dallas has proximity to Fort Worth going for it. Fort Worth has culture and a nice downtown. Much better downtown as far as night life goes than Houston or Dallas.

but then again i havent been around much so ... maybe its just as bad or worse everywhere else. but the galleria/westheimer/montrose areas are awesome. if you're situated there then its not so bad at all

IMO, Houston is better than Phoenix and LA. I'll concede Dallas is pretty shitty. SA varies but has some nice features.

Galveston looks like it never recoverd from the hurricane as far as the town goes and the beaches are just pure ass.

Fort Worth's cutural district has the best art museums in the state and arguably the Southwest in the Modern, the Kimbell, and the Amon Carter. Also a lot of theatrical bullshit at Bass Hall and Casa Manana. Downtown is not ghettofied like Deep Ellum and not fratified like Lower Greenville. It has a great mix of bars, eating joints, clubs, and other venues. It's really got something for everyone not to sound gay. The area around TCU isn't anything special but unlike the areas around Rice and SMU, everything is affordable. In short, Fort Worth is the only city in Texas other than Austin that doesn't suck ass. It ain't great but it's a lot better than the others.

Um actually that was my roommate, Ari. Just admit that you have no idea what you're talking about. Detroit's unemployment rate is one of the highest in the country, not to mention their mayor is a piece of shit who's surrounded by nothing but scandals and money.

We obviously don't live in the same world because here in the real world, Detroit is a piece of shit city and anyone who lives there or has actually been there will tell you that. I love Detroit, its got character and I have a lot of memories there...but I won't try to sit here and say that its not a shitty city.
