Really enjoyed listening to this. Not entirely sure of the point of the video component, or the staging, but that's ok. It's a Linda Strawberry project so it's all predictably contrived. It's all pleasant enough though.

The vibrato and the dropped consonants are terrible, but there's something else I can't quite put my finger on that really bothers me. His voice sounds really shrill at all times, like he doesn't produce the lower end of it anymore - it sounds even less full-bodied than before. And he completely gave up on alternating his screechy voice with the breathier one.

The 1997 video in this thread sounds so good. His singing isn't even technically good there, it's just really expressive. He lost it completely.

I dig the woodsy themed setting... very interesting. The Ogilala tour was unlike any other. I appreciate this tribute to that special time. It's a real gift to just hear Billy's voice like this, with nothing in the way. Gotta love those harmonica skills too. He has completely mastered the instrument of his own body. I feel like I could be guided through any kind of darkness by the sound of his voice, so I am grateful for his body of work. I feel saved... beyond life and death, to the true origination of consciousness. By the expression of whatever this is.

I feel that Billy really missed a trick here; he went to the trouble of laying out and lighting all those candles-but he didn't cover Man Who Sold The World, Where Did You Sleep Last Night and a few classic Meat Puppet songs from their second album. This was his chance to finally eclipse Kurt, bring back his nineties fan base and reclaim his place in the upper echelons of rock and roll.
