this song is vastly fucking underrated by the fanbase. i barely see anybody talking about it. it should've been played live more than like thrice [and d'arcy should've learned the bass line -- but even the wrong notes in that record store gig somehow enhance the sublimity of the song?]

it feels like the peak blissed out state of every drug i've ever tried, condensed into a 5:22 mp3 track

i only wish jimbo wrote a cool jazzy drum set part for this, instead of the bongos

& quite frankly, part of the reason there may be less Obscured talk than deemed appropriate by head of board Ram27 is because of the many years of yearning for Whirl to be played live (which at long last his lordship & shiny grace bestowed upon us in year of our lord 2014 or whatever!)

and it was fantastic live, not only was it great but they went into this acoustic set where they toned down songs and then the way they played whir was actually toned up from the album version. at least that was my perception as it was happening

agree, that tour they did whir live had jeff and jimmy wanking technical shit all over it. which is fun to hear and an interesting take, especially with the key change [?] outro space out thing, but imo whir at its heart is a breezy pretty acoustic song

One of my favourite SP songs of all time. I remember getting the Today CD single and being blown away by it, especially the way it came after Hello Kitty Kat. I really miss CD singles.

And then finding out it was meant to be on Lull made the artwork on that EP make more sense, the "sleep on the floor" wording (I later went on to write a song with that title and in a similar mold).

I really wish Billy would / could sing like he does here, now. Imagine Cotillions and Ogilala had that same vocal style, they would be 100000% more listenable.

perhaps the shittiest take on Pisces I've ever seen. The only remotely meh tracks, and even then they're still good, are Spaced and Sandoz. If you don't like Whir and La Dolly Vita I wonder what it is about Smashing Pumpkins you even like.
