For me at this point, My Zeitgeist listening is strictly limited to: Tarantula, That's The Way, Pomp, Come On Let's Go and Stellar. That's a pretty nice handful of good songs, even if the rest of the material doesn't interest me anymore.

For what it's worth, I really liked the album at the time. I was genuinely excited by the new material and wanted to hear it live. It hasn't aged well for me though, but some music just doesn't. |

Pomp studio version may be one of my least favorite Pumpkins tracks - the solo is great or whatever but that sure isn't gonna save it. Early live versions are great tho

Appel and Orange Juice rips. Did not care for it at first, but it sells that corny drum and bass shit pretty well.

It's one of the greatest things on Adore, imo, and there's not much else quite like it in their discog

You go to hell, sir
You go to hell and you die I can understand angles behind disliking virtually any song off ZG, though I don't think the album's anywhere near as bad as it's made out to be, but Neverlost in particular is the only one on the standard version of the album I thought at launch and still think was fucking great. |

Yeah I thought that was a weird-ass one to single out too but, you know, figured it'd have more of an "army" behind it than G&C
hehe! |

Solara kind of sounds like it could have been the third single off Zeitgeist after Tarantula and That's the Way.

As for Neverlost... I might like that song if the chorus wasn't so similar to Blissed and Gone (a song that I like a lot better). Last edited by Zer0 Hour : 08-09-2018 at 08:48 AM. |

People complained so much about Z production but at least if it was with that batch of songs the snare would have some ring to it and the drums in general wouldn't sound so "Byrned up" |

I feel like Tarantula is pretty strong overall, I just wish Billy would have tried a little harder with the lyrics. They’re not terrible but they’re not particularly good either, and there are some really cringy moments (“I don’t wanna fight every single night”, “I want to be there when you're happy, I want to love you when you're sad”). And then there was that stupid video. Sheesh.
It’s kinda funny though; I remember when the song came out, the reactions from people here and over at Blamo were mixed at best. Little did we all know that Tarantula would be better than so much of what came after. |

I remember people saying it sounded like an MCR song which just confirmed they’d never heard an MCR song

I remember people comparing it to Zwan, which I could kinda see, but even that comparison is questionable. Lyrically, I'd rank most of Zwan's music higher than most of the SP2 stuff. Music-wise, it varies but Zwan is definitely the better of the two. I've only really heard MSOTS and a couple of other (poorly recorded) live tracks from Zwan, but I'd say that the majority of it sounds like a lighter, more 60s/70s-inspired Pumpkins. It's good and I wish they would have continued to make music because I'm intrigued as to where it could have gone. SP2 often sounds like an SP cover band with a few bright spots here and there.

Man, That's the Way really is the best song from Zeitgeist. United States is a close second but the album version is so inferior to the live version.

I saw the Zeitgeist show in Auckland, New Zealand when I was traveling there. It was pretty good. I met Jimmy at a drum shop in Auckland before the show. I asked him if they could please play Gossamer though, and he was like nope.. haha That was my disappointment. I just wanted a 15 minute Gossamer live and didn't get it.. fucking Billy.. haha
