so i have to write a clinical report on someone famous
for my abnormal psych class. they can be a tv character or real life famous person. i thought kurt cobain would be an easy route. the professor did an example with vito corleone. any ideas?

kurt was an interesting choice. not that it needs saying, but this dude was a head case. i can diagnose him with substance abuse related disorder, bipoloar depression disorder, ADHD, antisocial personality disorder, multiple psychosocial factors and an extensive medical history.

they always are contrived and ask you to make a diagnosis on someone you never talked to. it kind of breaks the ground rules of counseling

sure, kurt's a good choice, except the fact that your teacher is probaly sick of reading about the same guy over and over again. - seems like too obvious a choice.

agreed. but then again, no one in class but the prof is a licenced clinical psychologist, so our hands are tied in regards to making a dianosis on a real person. this is impersonal.
contrived is a good way of discribing it tho. are you a psych major or grad? |

grad and went to grad school for mental health/school counseling
9 times out of 10, a psychology degree is absolutely worthless. it's a ticket to get into grad school |

so what's with the shrink attitude that only sick minds are worthy of study and discussion? is the idea that the only healthy psyche is the one free from any atypical thought processes whatsoever? why is there no interest in analyzing how the John Teshes of the world think? is it any wonder that society suffers such a scarcity of psychic role models?
