They do sound quantized but not in a cool 1979 kind of way. It sounds like Robocop with a drum kit. Maybe it's just the songs sssssuuuucccc....

A lot of the drums on Shiny 1 were just loops.

I would say because perhaps JC wasn't happy with his whole part, wanted to redo them, but Rick Rubin couldn't have been bothered sitting there for that so he said let's just loop the best part.

Most overrated producer ever. i find that fucking hippie millionaire persona, always on the couch without shoes, absolutely unbearable.

I've never personally met Rick Rubin, but I do know bands, engineers and producers that have. While I dislike the fact that he is considered to be a "producer" he does have one thing going for him and that is connections.

It's mind blowing how butchered the SP stuff sounds that is associated with him because the studio they used is world class. So many phenomenally sounding records have been made there.

He produced some of the greatest records of all time. Like Danzig 1, 2 and 3.

there are approx two albums i've heard that Rick Rubin was involved with that i actually like, and i sincerely doubt it had much to do with him

he produced the worst Beastie Boys album and some shitty "comeback attempt" records for Pumpkins and uh, Slipknot or whatever. whoopity doopity!

Corey Taylor gave some hilarious account of his experience working with Reuben

Let me give you the fucking truth of it. Rick Rubin showed up for 45 minutes a week. Yeah. Rick Rubin would then, during that 45 minutes, lay on a couch, have a mic brought in next to his face so he wouldn't have to fucking move. I swear to God.

And then he would be, like, 'Play it for me.' The engineer would play it. And he had shades on the whole time. Never mind the fact that there is no sun in the room it's all dark. You just look like an asshole at that point. And he would just stroke his huge beard and try and get as much food out of it as he could. And he would go, 'Play it again.' And then he'd be, like, 'Stop! Do that over.'

Overfuckingrated. His list is huge but greatest records of all time? He looks like a big name to slap on a record sleeve.

Flood produced The Downward Spiral. Reuben just did a little remix In Further down the spiral.

This is one of the only things that would make me feel even a tinge of excitement about this project. However, WPC is too CHEAP to bring in Flood.

To be fair Corey Taylor recanted all of those statements and said:

While we're on the topic of Rubin and for the fact that I have no other in to post this but has anyone else seen this clip:

I got to work with Sylvia way back in 2009 and mostly talked about System of a Down and then years later she posts this clip.

Whi pays the bills for these recordings? I doubt Sumerian had anything to do with it.

If it's Billy then it would explain the choice of not too famous producers and engineers.
