I got this cute little email from a student at my school last week who hangs around our student government meetings.

Hey ******,

I meant to ask you if you wanted to hang out sometime. I’m still struggling to make new friends here while all my old friends have moved away, and you seem nice, so I figured I’d try to make friends with you...

I responded to it in person and told her we could grab coffee before or after a student government meeting or something.

that's pretty cool.

It never occurred to me to just email someone and be like "this sux, wanna be friends? lol."

Same. I have half a mind to...contact this girl I like and try to...something.

This is gonna sound weird but only in the last couple months I've realized I actually enjoy talking to people. It's been a hell of a year.

EDIT: Actually, now I think about it I did spin Kodama a couple times last year and it felt like a return to form. Production was great.

nah the one with the photo of the girl playing flute on the cover. Get that one, it's the most pure kinda version of that clean-BM thing they were going for, pretty interesting to hear it now and think that it's a decade old and now we have DFHVN

once I wrote a paper about Ulysses, for the most difficult professor in my college, she gave it a 10 and wrote "well done"

unfortunately, it hasn't my name on it. I had bet something with a friend, lost, and had to write the paper for her. I didn't even read the book. But I'm so proud.

i accidentally walked in on a girl in the bathroom at a party one time, and then later overheard her telling one of her friends about it. She ended the story with "he was hot though, so it's ok"

that is not the best compliment i've ever received neccesarily, but it was certainly a warm blip on a sad & loathesome timeline!

probs hard to tell since we sit down to do both and he didn't hang around like some creep.

but you're probably only asking that as a part of your shtick and want a reaction and not a real answer. plus you cant help but to be trashy and constantly degrade and sexualize women because i'm guessing you're just super lame and one of those m'lady jerks

The only email I ever received out of the blue from a classmate was this one, last year.

Quote:
Hey Emma,
You probably already know this but you accidentally replied all to [our tutor]'s message, so I got to read it. I wanted you to know it was an A+ message. It was tactful and polite but still clear about what information you wanted and needed. I mention this because some people don't know how to send/reply to emails and you need have no fear of that.

Cool

In a creative writing course in college, someone compared my writing to Haruki Murakami's and I'm sorry to say I'd never heard of him until then, but that got me into his stuff, and looking back that was like the nicest, most encouraging thing

Of course I never wrote again after that class, lol, lol

Murakami is one of my fav writers. he's kinda like Stephen King at this point with the amount of work he's put out, but when he's at his best he really is exceedingly good at what he does

I loved South of the Border West of the Sun. I haven't read any of his others, but that book really shook me. I felt dead inside for several days after (in a good way)

I'm an e-disciple of his.

in the age of MSN Messenger, he had a look at the (English) lyrics I wrote for one of the songs on my previous band's debut album and approved of them. RIP
