Default So what the fuck is going on with Day For Night?

My OCD is killing me that fucking stupid ass Teargarden isn't complete.

He had one fucking album left and the dumb thing would be over with.

Has it officially been abandoned? Or is it still supposed to come out sometime in the future/never?

he shelved it. rumored for a while & confirmed in recent Rolling Stone interview. I guess it'll come out one day. would be hilarious & sad & so fucked up if it comes out before Chicago Kid.

Teargarden ended with Owata. All that album within an album garbage was just that; garbage

Duh. Where the fuck have you been?

Billy admitted on Howard Stern several years ago that the whole Teargarden project had been abandoned.

Day for Night was probably abandoned after Monuments proved to be a commercial and critical failure. After that the offers started drying up and mysteriously Jimmy and James started making appearances during the tour and talk of a reunion has been circling ever since... which is odd as the Pumpkins had been officially 'reunited' since 2005.

A fine example of just how backasswards Billy's entire career has been.

If we'd gotten good music from him the past decade or so (or even this century) then I'm sure he'd have all the slack from us that was possible.

Unfortunately, we haven't gotten much good music from Billy in a long time, and most of us seem to think it's due to him living in Billyland instead of Pumpkinland or even Sandlands.

First of all I wouldn't consider anything that Billy's done to be my favorite music of all time. If the Pumpkins never existed my quality of life wouldn't be affected in any way, shape or form.

There are plenty of other artists and groups to listen to. I wouldn't rank SP in my top 20 favorite groups.

And Billy has been well compensated for his works. Aside from the free Machina II and Teargarden works which were given away for free and are questionable in quality, I've paid for the Pumpkin music I listen to.

I think it goes without saying that fans of an artist want to see the artist at his best.

We're fans of artists we love because we appreciate the quality of their work. We're not fans simply for the sake of being fans.

Good question.

15 years ago or so almost every group had its own msgboard. Now only a handful have enough fans to keep one active, and this is one of the exceptions. For example, one of my favorite groups, Fuel, has a msgboard but only about five people ever post there. The place is a graveyard. Same with many other of my favorite groups.

SP is one of the few rock 'groups' that still has enough of a fan base/community to support a msgboard. Msgboards, for better or for worse, are going the way of the dodo.

It's nice to check in to msgboards periodically to see if any new info and/or rare songs/demos have leaked or popped up on YouTube. They are also a good place to check or new or archived interviews (be they print or YouTube) that I might not have otherwise found on my own.

For the record I do like a lot of SP music... mainly from Adore through Zeitgeist, as well as some other songs here and there. I'm just not as diehard for the group as the average fan is that perhaps frequents around here is.

Billy said that if Ogilala is successful (whatever that means) he might release the Chicago Kid album.

Businessman Billy has spoken.
