It's official - I'm old. Friday evening and I'm opting to stay home by myself, bake and watch shitty online guitar tutorials while posting on a message board. Instead of going out and seeing a wrestling match .

can i just say it feels good to not be a complete drone. yeah, what i'm doing isn't hard but it does take creative thinking and multitasking and doing math in your head and not just scanning things for 8 hours pretending you dont want to kill yourself

I will never forget my first retail job at Border's doing exactly that. There was this shitty children's book series or something and this guy was buying all of them, and one of the books was arbitrarily priced at 7.99 instead of 5.99, and he asked me to call my manager because clearly it was a mistake and I was like dude that's the price, yeah it's fuckin random and I agree with you, but that's the price, take it or leave it, and he got his undies all bunched up his ass, and the manager ended up coming and telling him exactly what I told him, and it was like hey dude welcome to America in 2007. He ended up not buying that one book out of principle which I'm sure forced the publisher into affecting a price change

One of the last times I was at Half Price Books this dude had a $5 off coupon and he didn't understand about how it says that you have to spend a certain amount to get that price off. He was basically trying to use a bunch of those coupons at different times to get free (under $5) paperbacks. Manager was called it was a giant mess. Sometimes I don't understand people.

seriously though, people have issues in their personal lives and find or concoct ways to take out their anger and frustration on what they perceive as faceless employees. sickness

Hey, I worked at Borders too. I think I was gone before 2007 though. But I was IPT so I stocked the shelves mostly and only had 1-2 hours of register or cafe per day.

Grocery is much worse. Hundreds of items per order, nothing interesting like books to talk about, etc

There was a dude today who brought in some old receipts with some coupons he "forgot" to cash in. Fair enough, it happens a lot, and we note it on the receipt and give them cash. I saw he had more than one receipt, but at the third one I was like... oh... I see what's going on. There's this $5 off $30 purchase coupon out there, and he basically pulled these out of the trash and was getting $5 for each one by pretending he forgot the coupons for each. He got like $30.

He kept on nervously saying his daughter keeps forgetting so this is why he had a lot etc. Asked if it would be easier to do them all at once. Made me sad

stop smoking so damn much. If you cut back to one bowl a day (I am going to guess you smoke at least twice daily) you will start to feel your tolerance lower after only a few days

this sounds interesting

had a good night. my cousin and I met at galaxy hut but then she wanted to go to georgetown to meet some of her coworkers at clyde's, so I didn't really get the galaxy hut experience. next time maybe, she lives right down the street. We drank many beers and did a crossword at the bar, talked shit about my shit sister and my heroin addled cousin from texas. next thing I know it was midnight.
