Default "Alone: The Home Recordings of Rivers Cuomo" coming 12/18!

"Alone: The Home Recordings of Rivers Cuomo" coming 12/18!

Folks, if you ain't heard yet, in less than 2 weeks time, a very special album will be released. Weezer frontman Rivers has compiled a selection of some of his favorite home demo recordings, and its coming out on Geffen Records on December 18!

As some of you know, when not jamming with Weezer, Rivers is usually in his home studio working on songs. And finally here is an official release of some of the best tracks from the past 15 years of his "homework"!

While a few of these tracks have been heard (in less than high fidelity) by fans, many have not - and none of them have ever been heard in as high quality as this before! December 18 - you know what to do! (international fans: release dates may be a bit later)

CHECK IT OUT - PREVIEW 3 TRACKS FROM "ALONE": The player is "live" on the Weezer.com homepage, or go to Weezer's Myspace page!

-Karl

weezer's 6th album coming in 2008!
Got this in the e-mail. I'm so glad he is finally releasing Blast Off... I've been waiting for this song for 10 years! Whats funny is the 3 previews on the website sound better than any weezer material thats been released since Pinkerton.

...Folks, heads up: the label pushed the release date of "Alone" back one week to December 18. Still in time for the holidays! See above for the cover art, featuring a photo I took of Rivers in 1993 at work in a rehearsal studio. Rivers says "This is a CD of my favorite home demos from ’92 to ’07 featuring a lot of never heard before songs, a few covers, a few songs from my unfinished rock musical "Songs From The Black Hole" and my original demo for “Buddy Holly”". Please note that the final tracklisting of this album will not be released before the album itself. See some more info on this album and the upcoming 6th Weezer album on pp. 32 in Rolling Stone's 40th anniversary issue (see it for free online here).

You make it sound like that's a bad thing.

So would something like his cover of "Tomorrow" be released on this? Possibly one of my favorite things Rivers has ever done.

Can you seriously stand by that? There are songs on TGA, Maladroit and even a few off of MB that are better than 2 of the 3 you speak of. Seriously after you have an offical version of Superfriend and have listened to it five or six times you will see it's not that great of a song. I mean the few seconds we heard from VCD and all the Weezernation(R.I.P) fags begging Karl Koch to give them a full version make it out to be pretty much the holy grail of Weezer songs. But after the smoke clears it's just a Pinkerton throw away. Blastoff is awesome I'll give it that. But srsly get a grip.

This album is the most hit and miss thing I've heard for quite a while. When it's good it's lovely, when it's bad it's absolutely awful beyond belief

Yeah, some songs are pretty painful to listen to. But I can't help it, I really like Cuomo.

I think Chess is the only miss song on there. Lemonade would probably be greater with better lyrics, but that and Longtime Sunshine really are somethin fantastic. I could see This is the Way on KTU the Beat of New York!
