I really like Valentine and Lovesong. I love California.

I don't like Exile In Guyville.

Her later work is embarrassing poppy crap.

Liz Phair is a silly name.

D'arcy could probably sell out a 300 person Chicago venue with a puppet show about Billy.

One of my favorite things about being alive is being in the middle of a grocery store and hearing the line "Here we are, we're at the beginning, we haven't fucked yet but my head's spinning."

Puts me in the mood to buy some yogurt every time.

no, it's from like 1996, you're thinking of the one from ~2003.

she only did the shitty pop stuff because of her record company

I thought she did it as some sort of misguided Billy Corgan-esque "whateva, I do what I want!" statement.

Capitol rejected the completed album she offered them and her budget was already used up. They told her they would give more money in order to do more songs but only if she recorded tracks by their own songwriters. She was locked into contract with them and basically had no other choice than to break her contract and get sued.

is this a weirdly unclear reference to the fact that Liz Phair opened the Plainsong tour or were you unaware of that?

I'd thought I'd post the awesome California, for people unfamiliar with it. Sorry, my comp doesn't let me embed.

I'm sure that's what her Wikipedia says, but that sounds incredibly made up.

She will always be relevant because of how good exile in guyville is.

What do you get out of coming into the thread to shit on her? She’s been shit on by everyone for twenty years. She has every right to cash in on her classic.

Can’t wait to listen to the reissue.
