At least it is actually track 17 on my list. Always bugged me how 17 was track 16 on the CD release. Plus 17 connects with the lyrics of Blissed And Gone, so kinda fitting. And yes, as you can see, I like the electronic side of Adore that some here loathe.

beautiful untethered lyricism here in the verses, though, like the aforementioned "shame," the chorus has always felt a tad forced to me. "you make me real /strong as i feel" ... i get it, but still:

oh-noh
i love that line. but i have this thing with reality. if someone was able to "make me feel real" it would be quite an accomplishment.

17 is beautiful, don't @ me

the weird warped piano feels really nostalgic and melancholy and bittersweet

yeah.
the "digital transfer" version from the Adore reissue sounds much better (the version of the album is very tape degraded, to an odd degree). but yeah they definitely could have handled that one better

Help pls for appreciating Tear

Other than Ava Adore it’s the only one i tend to skip

Something about the verse melody and recurring motif strike me as unbearably maudlin, like even when I’m in the mood to wallow all sad, it’s just too much

Also I used to love perfect but now something about the eq on the drum machine tickles my irritation parts so fiercely i can’t handle it ... it’s kinda like the swishiness of a bad mp3, once i started hearing it i couldn’t ignore it and that sound just dominates the mix for me now

Sucks b/c i freaking love the sighing hook, the strange echoey instrumentation, the lyric, practically everything other than this 1 element

Adore was just the fucking pinnacle of BC's lyrical capability AFAIC. It was the only time where I'd actually say BC wrote verses nice enough to be considered poetic. He even sold the simple stuff like 'You make me real.'

I used to find Shame, Blank Page and For Martha absolutely heartbreaking.

Shame & Blank Page are 100% perfect as is. easy.

I've always loved behold the nightmare, but thought billy did the barbershop interlude on purpose to 'make it different' but I wish it was more inline with what they usually do.

there's tons of great songs on there, but I also REALLY love lots of the bsides, and think some of them are stronger then a few that made the album
I'd trade:
waiting, blissed & gone & czarina anyday for apples & oranges, dusty pete, and once upon a time...

I'm always on the fence about the singles, but I"m not sure if the adore singles I dislike because they're the singles that got overplayed or because I'm not impressed...
specifically: adore, perfect and cresfallen

I"m always gonna love how the album starts "twilight fades" as a nod to mcis.
listening to the album always makes me visualize a rich sepia color with lots of depth. It's fantastic.

I love Adore, and it was clearly the last great Pumpkins album.

I can remember when it came out, and the lead up to it. Talk of an acoustic album, or at one point it was going to an album of mellow tracks only (an album of Lunas and Obscureds? Cool!).

James released "Let it come down" in the same year and the contrast between the two albums couldn't be greater. One sunny and summery, the other dark and wintery. Mournful, filled with regret, this was really the infinite sadness.

Two songs I do skip however, Annie-Dog and Shame. Sometimes Appels and Oranjes. I like the song Annie-Dog but the vocals ruin it. Shame I must go back to, as I just found it boring, and it dragged that part of the album. It is a LONG album for sure, so sometimes songs got skipped over due to fatigue.

Stand outs for me are To Sheila, Tear, Pug, Dusty, Nitemare, and To Martha. Those tracks alone are worthy of the price of the album.

Funnily enough, I was listening to "The beginning is the end is the beginning" and it had all the elements of an Adore track, would've been a good fit.

i've said it many times before and i'll say it again, Appels+Oranjes is one of the most unjustly hated SP songs, and it is in fact one of my favs off that album and always has been.

I'm not into the production/final version, but the demos from the reissue were pretty good

Don't get me wrong, I'm a fan of that album and listened to it a lot in the years after it came out. It's just a very different album to Adore. From the cover art onwards...
