I agree they aren't Top 20 radio hits anymore, or even near it, but you're mindlessly dismissing how small the venue is vs. how many people want to see and how (relatively) cheap the ticket is at 50 bucks (an aging fanbase probably has the disposable income to support it)

How fast did the Adore show sell out at Massey? Less than an hour? 15 minutes? And you honestly think their stock has dropped that much in barely 10 years to not be even able to sell it out? Really?

Bottom line: It is absolutely fucking absurd to think they won't sell out a small venue like Massey Hall. And quickly. Admit it. Go ahead, it's okay.

The last Pumpkins show at Massey Hall sold out in like 10-15 minutes but that was before the days of Ticketmaster online, remember wrist band policies?

The pumpkins are not really having issues filling up venues with 2-3k.

she is just playing the upset and bitter james iha fan.

Nothing wrong with that.

It'll be the first look at the Black Sunshine and White Crosses shows. I'm stoked.

Massey will sell out both nights. Musically Marilyn Manson makes less of a ripple in mainstream music today, and he sold out considerably quickly when I went to see him a few years ago.

I'll be looking for Netphoria members

I am forced to wait till Saturday at 10am? Rats. That is so not cool.

I will if I can get there. Damn Saturday jobs... and WTF to know presale for myspace friends or mailing list members or something! Fucking shit.

Also, other than the fact that the two sets will be totally different, do we know anything about what type/style/era stuff will played in each? Or will it be a mix? Cause I don't want to pay 50+ for a ticket when I'm only getting one dimension of the band... I hope it's not like "Black Sunshine = heavy and White Crosses = acoustic" or something. I guess I wouldn't be too upset with an acoustic show... but I hope not to get one that's all heavy, "rocking" stuff with none of the finer side.

And one last bit of ranting: all this shit with exclusive presales and two night events and shit is kind of awesome but also kind of a bummer... for those of us who don't live in dowtown Toronto, how are we supposed to have the time and money for gas, parking, no sleep and everything on a fucking MONDAY AND TUESDAY??????

Just to confirm, these two shows are being sold individually.

Virtually all of the tickets on the pre-sale today were on the left side of the venue.

haha. i live a quick subway from the venue and i'm not bothering with any of this shit.

nice to see bill expecting his fanboys to spend a total of 120+ for tickets alone for two nights (x2 if they have to drag someone along) and perhaps gas money in this day & age right around the time people are buying christmas gifts.

maybe if it was the original lineup and not an obvious "diehard" cash-grab of "TWO DIFFERENT SETLISTS! OMG! BUT WE WON'T LET YOU KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT IT TIL AFTER YOU'VE SPENT THE MONEY!"

the only way bill can ensure he's selling tickets these days is to ploy off the "diehards"

It would have been better if they had just made these double shows a combined thing rather than having to buy it individually. There will probably many people not able to get tickets for both shows, you may get one but then get shut out of the other one. If they are playing similar setlists each night then it wouldn't be as big a deal but since they are advertising it as each night will be totally different its kind of unfair to fans who wanted to go but miss out on one of the nights.

This is pretty lame...I can't go to the Tuesday night show even if I wanted to dish out the money for both nights, but I want to know what to expect for Monday night. And wtf is this $100 presale bullshit...

It's not Billy Corgan's plotting; it's how Massey Hall tries to pick up some extra bucks.

To be fair...very few (I'd say less than 12-24) people usually have both the presale AND are intending to go to the concert.

Your seating will probably be minimally affected by this at best. I've never found it to be an issue. I ended up in third row, dead center after a five day presale before.

.
you underestimate scalpers.

who will probably overestimate what people will be willing to pay and thus the venue ends up with loads of empty seats.

also, scalpers are the only reason this will sell out.

Last three Massey Hall shows I've been to, the scalpers got ridiculed, and one of them got arrested. Normally only a couple of them, charging outrageous prices, when basically everyone in line already has their ticket.

There weren't empty seats at most of the shows I've attended at Massey. It's not even an exceptionally large venue.

It'll be fine. Quit being a negative nancy.

okay but don't bitch here about not getting tickets when you can probably easily get one for less than face value 10 minutes into one of these shows. guaranteed.

To be honest, I'd rather have just one show with a kick-ass set list... but I mean, if I had the time and money and didn't have to drive an hour home after the show and then wake up early to commute about an hour in the opposite direction to get to work in the morning, I'd probably want a two night affair.

On the positive side, I'm super excited to see a full Pumpkins show (my only previous Pumpkins concert was Virgin festival, and a festival set is never as good as a full show). So whichever night I make it, I'm happy that I'll get to see them.

As for all the original lineup stuff, I'll admit I'd rather see the original four than the current incarnation. That being said, I'd rather see 5 people who are really into what they're doing than 2 who just don't give a fuck or even enjoy it, and 2 who are just pissed off because the other 2 don't care.

so you'd rather see two dudes in it for the money and past their prime with 3 tagalongs?

haha no, not quite. What I'd rather is to see the original lineup at a time that the original lineup was fully into what they were doing.

At this point in time, I'd say that Billy and Jimmy actually believe in what they're doing - if it was purely a cash grab, they wouldn't have to bother with all the new songs and stuff, and they could've just payed James and either Melissa or D'arcy shitloads of money to come back for the reunion tour.

So, rather than see that, I'd like to see Billy and Jimmy doing what they love, with 3 other musicians who are into it.

Besides, I think Billy and Jimmy are past the whole "keeping it real" bullshit - they're gonna do what they're gonna do, and we can take it or leave it. And I choose to take it.

see, if the new songs were actually good and had heart and integrity, they'd have no problem getting james or melissa back.

the songs are obvious treads of what bill thinks people want to hear, but actually are not. so he's milking the nostalgia for what it's worth.

therefore, cash grab.

I'm split with whether or not I want to go now. I was looking at making it out to the Chicago shows...but now...I don't even know if it is worth it.

Monday & Tuesday nights? I'm not driving from Windsor for this. There is no way.

being doubtful only proves it's not worth it.

hall & oates at windsor casino would be more worth it.

Yeah I think you're right. At first I was all excited and ready to go. Then the excitement wore off and I realized that I would be looking at probably double my projected spending.

Hall & Oates.......
