When are they gonna announce the openers already?

This is just getting ridiculous

I think the Nickelback rumor is definitely bullocks. No way they would wait this long to announce that.

lol why'd they close that thread? Just cause I made a silly joke about fat people? Netphorias getting soft on us.

Fat people have been used in comedic roles since the beginning of motion pictures and far beyond. There's a reason why a lot of the legendary comedic actors have been overweight. No one would find Chris Farley funny if he was just some little skinny guy.

I wouldn't exactly write it off yet. It's becoming more and more unlikely, but I'm a very spiritual person, and when I get a sense about something, I'm rarely wrong.

What's odd is that any time you get a high profile tour like this, there's always big name openers to sweeten the pot. So I really don't understand what kind of angle they're going for by waiting so long to make an announcement. I'd have to reckon if it was a Smashing Pumpkins only bill, that they would've announced that by now.

Maybe they assume the opener is gonna be the knock-out punch to move the rest of the tickets, so they're waiting for a tactical time to unveil the act?

Whatever the purpose is, I wish they'd get on with it. I was seriously considering trecking out to Arizona to see the first show back, but opening acts are really the deal breaker for me because I don't think the Pumpkins alone warrant the price of the tickets. If they added a Dinosaur Jr or Joy Formidable or a band like that to the bill then it changes things.

NWA will be the supporting act. Sounds like a rap-group...

Maybe that was the original plan until Billy uninvited Nickelback from the tour as well. I heard he wanted them to play only 3 songs.

I know everyone likes to wax-nostalgic about the 90's and how alternative rock was based on integrity, but you look at all the big bands of the era and they all had these really good looking lead singers. Hell, even Billy Corgan when he had hair. You think of really famous bands of the 90's with lead singers who weren't all that good looking and there aren't many... When you think of it, it's like Radiohead, Offspring... Can't think of many others.

At this point I don't think there is an opener. Bill is just so full of himself that it's gonna be a 2 1/2 hour show. No opener. Or an acoustic set will be the opener.
The PR of this tour has just been bizarre. No new music only new merch with old song lyrics on them. No interviews anywhere with James discussing the "reunion."

It's not quite going to be as bad as the 2015 debacle with Jimmy coming in last minute and a bunch of carry overs from the acoustic tour... But I'm just feeling like it's going to be the same thing. Basically the greatest hits CD with a rarity or two.

Either way, the $20 live Nation tickets weren't enough to get me to go.
