And I hate that little obvious, generic lead guitar picking part that goes on during the outro.

Cock-rocks fine if done right, but whiny cock-rock trying to pass as earnest is lame.

I mean, it's objectively not a bad song. I just find it boring and cliched. As far as PJ goes I really don't like much from Ten. I like the VS- Yield stretch the most.

ahhhh fuck, I even like Even Flow. Jeremey's a lot better than Black but it's still a little boring and grating in how overly earnest it's trying to be in a similar way to black.

christ i forgot you were bad at even liking "bad music"

regardless, Ten is the only album i've heard from them in full & it kind of gets fuzzy (no pun intended) after that

i know fuzzy has had plenty of fine moments in the past, but to go from praising My Own Worst Enemy by Lit, to trashing Black as "cock rock", all within the confines of a single page...

that's just remarkable, really

My Dad loves Pearl Jam was the first band where he sat me down and was like "This is what real music sounds like son"

My dad also introduced me to Pearl Jam but told me Ten is their only decent record and they just put out a bunch of shit after that

Wow, y'alls dads were Pearl Jam fans?

The last time I saw my dad, Pearl Jam were just getting started. I'm pretty sure he had no idea they even existed.

Black Sabbath still holds up. War Pigs and the Paranoid album in general are played out, but they still have a great discography just with Ozzy alone.

Also a big fan of the Dio era and the Gillian/Born Again one-off. But that's definitely stuff you could take or leave. The Ozzy era is essential.

I never really knew what my dad liked for music. But he was a big horror buff. The first movie I can recall seeing in theaters was Pet Sematary at the tender age of 5 (on a double-bill with Roadhouse). Watched Child's Play, Puppet Master, Hellraiser et al at his insistence. It could've scarred me but later in life I grew to be a pretty big horror fan as well, probably more serious than he ever was. I kinda see that as my way of defeating my dad/childhood trauma.

Any other random facts about my life you wanna know?

oh, & that self-titled Seal record w "Kiss From a Rose On It"
there will always be a place for that one in the dark remains of my heart...

my dad was "cool" and still listening to new music into his 40s but I'm also a lot younger than you I think because I was still shitting my pants when Even Flow was on the charts

He introduced me to SP as well. We watched the Cubs lose in the playoffs in 2003 and Billy Corgan was on tv singing Take Me Out To the Ball Game. He whipped out MCIS and pressed it into my hand and in that moment the covenant was sealed and my soul was Corgan's

jesus christ i'm old

my dad introduced me to billy joel

to his credit he indulged my SP obsession and genuinely seemed to like them (he's a musician so he has good ears) but i mean when i got into them @ 10 years old he was like 47ish
