Why does/do Bill/His fans hate Animal Collective so much?

I don't remember if I ever did read an official statement but I feel like ol' Bill hates Animal Collective for some reason and a lot of his fans do as well but I'm wondering why?

I've considered jealousy, or maybe it's because the boys really liked Pavement a long time ago

they're a great band, I especially love their earlier albums, up to 2005 Feels.

pretty much everyone on this board back in the strawberry jam/MPP days were just creaming over this band relentlessly

i know Merriweather Post Pavilion launched them into the mainstream, but Centipede HZ is a stellar album and the one that won me over.
It's become one of my all time favorite records.

I thought they sucked and didn't get the hype over them. They're pretty much over now though, nobody ever talks about them and their last album flopped. Such is fickle indie culture...

I really liked Feels when it came out - still do. I haven't kept up with them, though.

Billy was bitter about them because Mike Byrne liked them.

Because AnCo is one of the groups that 10/20/30 years from now will remain culturally and critically significant, sort of like how SP would've been if not for... well... everything post 1998

Because bill constantly reacts to the success of other artists with a bitterness, jealousy, and self hatred that's visibly paralyzed him from creating anything of his own that's worth even half a shit in the last FIFTEEN YEARS

As for the fans, I don't buy the premise that all bill's fans hate AC, but those who do must be so pathetically beholden to every shard of whining bile spewed from their savior that they've lost their ability to make critical judgments of their own

Was talking shit about Animal Collective. I listened to two Deerhunter songs and didn't like either enough to listen to more. Didn't think they were terrible but just didn't find it compelling on any level.

The last newish band I got into was probably The Men, if that tells you anything about my taste and how little I've kept up with contemporary music the last five years.

Animal Collective sucks. Sounds like some random preset on their stupid Roland beat boxes with some wannabe Beach Boy vocals thrown on top and a shit load of random sounds and percussion. Indie WANK.

And uhh YEAH, indie culture is definitely fickle. Bands like Arcade Fire, Grizzly Bear, Animal Collective, etc. etc. are lauded and jizzed over and given TEH TEN POINT OHHHHH review on pitchfork and then 4 or 5 years later nobody gives a shit about them.
