Default Should I buy tickets to see Velvet Revolver with Alice in Chains?

VR kind of sucks now. There is nothing special about 'She Builds Quick Machines' and I hate pretty much everyone in that band. Alice in Chains would probably just be a disappointment without Layne. I don't know guys.

I went to AIC last October with no expectations, and I was blown away. Still fucking great. Extremely emotionally powerful show. They did a tribute to Layne thing in the middle in between sets. I would go to see them this time around again, except I don't want to see Velvet Revolver and I certainly don't want to see AIC open for them.

i like VR, but I've heard that AIC is still a great show.....it's very much a tribute to layne and to the songs.

yeah ive heard the new dude for aic fills pretty well for layne. i dunno if i could see him and i still doubt he can match layne's powerful vocals.

i dont think the 25 bucks would be worth it, really. if it was just aic for like 12 id go just out of curiousity, but its just very difficult to imagine aic without layne. are they coming out with a new album?

oh velvet revolver sucks

don't you like better bands than Velvet Revolver/newer bands than Alice in Chains? I'm sure you can find a better show to go to for less money and get right up front.

ummmm...

It's always been Jerry Cantrell's band. If AC/DC can go on without Bon Scott than any band can go on with a different lead singer and still kick some ass.

jerry cantrell is a generic guitarist. without layne, they would sound very nu-metal. his stuff sounds like pentatonic rigatoni hamburger helper or something.

heh thats not true either. layne and jerry were both very important to aic, jerry was the primary songwriter and layne was the voice of the band. jerry is an exceptional guitarist, aic have always been a grunge band. heavy, moody, and fucking awesome. unlike nirvana jerry implemented more solos into his music, there's nothing wrong with that. cantrell is probably one of the more talented guitarists in the business.

the guitar work in songs like heaven beside you is amazing, you cant take away from him either.

Seriously, AIC still puts on a monstrous show. It might be worth the price to see them.
