your thread was made so we can discuss what you have to say
i think it's idealistic twaddle that's out-of-touch with reality so i probably should have said that |

IMO if we did away with the electoral college and undid egregious gerrymandering we'd be substantially closer to something that makes sense.
Maybe. Or not I don't know. |

All I'm trying to say is democracy is pretty awesome. And I don't think ours is entirely broken even with its corruption which is caused by letting the private sector be way more powerful than the public.

if there were no laws in the U.S starting right now, what would you do that you can't already do?
I don't think people would start killing each other or anything. But say goodbye to any property you wanted to keep hold of. |

There would be a lot of looting and violent disputes over property. People would be thrown out of their homes.
Groups with guns would eventually form. But I don't think the minute anarchy is declared everyone would start murdering because they can. |

Do you get your ideas from The Purge?
Also, you didn't answer the question of what exactly is the government stopping you from doing? |

libertarians like to use the wild west as an example of an anarchist economy
the only problem is that they leave out range wars and are like "well shootouts didn't happen THAT much" |

if there's something fight club did well besides be the most macho closeted gay confessional ever, it was to show how anarchy is ALWAYS replaced by order.

And it's the same thing with the mountains and the shack in Alaska nobody would want to actually live in that type of place.
We don't need to get rid of government we just need to demand that they do their fucking jobs. |

Short of death squads running around killing people, I imagine I'm not going to start fleeing for the hills. I mean, I watched the ISIS execution video and the most amazing thing to me is that while these trucks were driving down the road with prisoners to be executed, other cars are just driving along - taking their kids to ballet and delivering the fruit to the farmers market and whatever. |

Critiques of anarchism are always hilarious.
'Because in 26 seconds of thought I haven't solved out the age-old quandary of how society could function without rulers and the ruled, this means that anarchy must not be a credible ideal for human organization.' |

Again, what your anarchy denies is the strongest part of humanity. We all benefit greatly by taking care of each other in an organized society.
We are social animals with empathy and a desire to help those around us. That is why we form governments. |

I pretty clearly expressed that most people don't need laws to know not to skullfuck.
I don't agree with everything the government does. But reasonable people don't jump to anarchy as the solution for changing the policies they don't like. |

The true nature of humans is to not skullfuck because then you don't survive and pass on your genes.
Humans have empathy. It hurts when you hurt other people so humans naturally avoid it. When you throw in property and societal upbringing and such that changes but still most people are not wannabe murderers who are just afraid of police. Governments serve the purpose of managing resources and protecting the weak from the strong. If you strip too much power from the government you end up with a society run by other groups. In modern society these groups are corporations. In a purely anarchic society it would be groups that have the most guns. |

There can not be an anarchy imo because there's always a small percent of the population that will want to control.
And without an organized effort from the majority they end up ruling. |

Nope.
Humans are social animals. We crave social interaction and fear isolation. We are built to form groups. Every normal human has from birth an instinct to associate with other people. Natural selection favored those that weren't dicks to everyone because having friends pays off. People who formed groups were more likely to survive and pass on their genes. Those that skullfucked had difficulty making allies and so got eliminated by these groups. |

I love that anarchists will never accomplish anything substantial towards their ends because this fact is actually built into their philosophy

Umm. No.
I'm arguing that The Social Contract exists because organized society is beneficial and brings a higher quality of life for everyone. But I don't believe it exists to keep people from killing each other. |

You are conflating 'anarchism' with 'disorganisation'.
