I would eliminate the whooshing noises in the background of Behold! The arrangement of the song overall is great, but they added too many sounds in ProTools.

I always liked that part. Seemed like a casual afterthought in its delivery.

Not sure how many of those words will translate to your language.

Absolutely, it has always sounded like a mistake to me as well, even though I know its not. As for who it is, I'd say Jimmy.

the way the vocals are produced/recorded/mixed on this track always bugged me

incredibly unprofessional and hacked

Porcelina needed to be 'wetter' and more synth-y/pad-y

Ava Adore may have not aged so atrociously if it had a better arrangement

Imploding Voice suffered a horrible arrangement. i was surprised to discover it's actually a decent song when listening to an acoustic rendition on the Arising tour

Zeitgeist should have never existed

aw that's why it's so endearing. I think it is honestly just the product of trying to have 4 bad singers' voices heard simultaneously.

the parts where the all sing together is actually what's least lacking.

the individual parts is where it falls short. there are huge colour/tone and volume differences between the different singers, and it sounds wildly inconsistent, weak and untreated. no compression, no short delay to give it some body, nothing. it's just raw vocal tracks. one especially bad moment is when jimmy starts singing one of the lines off mic and you can hear him turn his head around to face the mic, so it kinda fades in. what kind of a fucking producer allows something like that, is beyond me

the same kind of producer who dismisses TAFH for being "too metal"

i don't like the production on MCIS very much but i've never had a problem with f+g. it's meant to be a rough little lullabye

yeah I like it the way it is too. I even like when Jimmy fucks up and sings "wash away the pain"

It is done amateurishly, and my guess is it must have been left like that on purpose, so it sounds like the four of them just sat down and did it. I love how the song fades into the piano outro

Production on MCIS is pretty superb for what it is I thought the whole point was to go for a much more raw take on the band as opposed to SD which I only listen to the live takes of now tbh

Plus through all the different styles there's a cohesive atmosphere to the album that's memorable

eh production on the soft tracks is pretty good but on the heavy songs the loss in definition, especially on the drums, is pretty unfortunate.

listen to TAFH (the song) and compare. It's possible to get what they were going for without the obnoxious boominess

The drums are not muddy in HKK though, at least not on the PI version. The guitars are really really heavy and there is a lot of noise there, but the noise is white, not dirty like on Jellybelly where you just can't totally discern what Jimmy is doing at the most crucial moments

for a while i was trying to compile all of the songs from that particular session - which is obvious because in front of every song BC is like "oh yea its time to rawwwwwk" or whatever

great session.

I listen to live bootlegs way way more than the actual records. The energy, the extended outros, alternate versions, the sound and "production" are better to me than on any album (besides maybe parts of Siamese Dream. The Cherub Rock intro where you can hear the slight phaser on the guitar as the intro builds up)
