True or not, I'm just saying in the context of 90's alt-rock a suicide survival story would not have hurt the single or album.

This is a man who bullied me and my sister with narcissistic abuse from the time we were infants which resulted (at least in my case) in a near-total destruction of selfhood to say nothing of self esteem (the latter of which remains a daily struggle to even approach). His bullying/invalidation of me, which continues to this day, has led me to the brink of suicidal plan making at many low points in my life

You know what he does if u ever try to bring any of these things up to him? Tell sob stories about his terrible childhood, brag about his own suicidal ideations. All of this to teach me that there’s nothing i could ever, ever complain about because my own suffering is nothing compared to his. Also he can treat anyone however he likes because he’s just a damaged man, doing his best

So then he gets to skip off happy as a clam, having solved the temporary inconvenience/boredom of having to listen to my emotions. And im left even more alienated than before i attempted to reach out to him.

The narcissist understands that suffering can be currency. And that there’s no better shield to deflect criticism/questioning than “i hurt too, yknow”

Basically im pretty sure big willie doesn’t “hurt” today—if he did the music would be better! Instead, he gets his kicks hurting others. The way he treats fans on instragram is straight-up abusive. How is admitting suffering anything other than admitting suffering? You can be skeptical of anything, so why choose his suffering? Why not aim that skeptical eye upon your own approach to how other people feel pain?

The so-called "opportunistic" motivation behind this admission is something imagined, something created that should not be accepted as a fact.

So is the "fact" of his narcissism, which is used here so casually and without nuance (i.e. every human subject necessarily adheres to some degree of narcissism) as a way of defending the most determined negative opinions about him.

Smashing Pumpkins are dead to me.

The new releases are always bland shit. The last good album was Machina.

I rarely listen to Smashing Pumpkins, Alice In Chains and Nirvana anymore, my three favourite bands for a long time.

Generally music just isn't exciting anymore when you get to a certain age. I just listened to Marliyn Manson's new album today and...meh.
