so we'll start at I Am One and work our way song by song through the six studio albums.
lets hear your stories about the song of the day, what you love about the song, details you love, what makes this song great. ANY insight you want to share about THE SONG of the day. lets stay focused and not deviate to other songs....

November 24:
I AM ONE

i love the guitar slide at the beginning right before the guitar starts riffing @ 0:35
so sharp and hair raising, you know hell's comming

surprisingly their arn't alot of lyrics in this song.... but it's a hell of a rocker
"I am one as you are three" are definitly carved in the top SP lyrics forever
Hell of a career opener... no fluff simply "we will SMASH YOUR FUCKING FACE OFF"
always (still) think he says "undone" and not simply "i'm down"
and shit are thos vocals SHARP, they cut,,.... this ain't no MBV (sEE you, I AM ONe) 2:25
"Am I as I seem?" what a coy motherfucker

"don't you just want to?" what is this? a dare? how dare he egg us on like that

Oh my god are guitar solo's AWESOME
dual guitars @ 2:50
the bass breakdown lets you breath thinking you've had enough
and then KICKS back in with a huge topper @ 3:25
jimmy's attack on the drums at that moment are loud enough to make you jump out of your seat!

i don't know how he could have done it any better.....

most people cant hear this- each channel (left and right) has about 4 guitar tracks playing the same thing- one emphasizes the lows, one the mids, one the highs, and another is a good all around track.

this is the song that made me realize how good a musician billy was- his timing is impeccable. it sounds like it is one guitar take, but its several built on top of one another. every nuance is exactly the same. very impressive

the footage on GH dvd is.... well just a cut and chopped band performace @ the metro
i wonder if the original video was this footaged interlaced with stylized symbolism like in the siva video

not too memorable. gets the album off to a strong start, but doesnt do much. Kinda samey as siva. i find myself starting the album with rhinoceros

i actually think its an ok idea. skipgo should sign off on it. its kinda like michael jordan advertising hanes. id love to discuss underwear if skipgo endorses it.

the first time i heard i am one live was when he sang some of the lyrics for zero during the rant. 8-20-94. my face was melted off. I now have no face. it's not pretty. thanks bill.

it was a "new" sound at the time... so that gets translated right away

you're right, i do need more of that. waiting in line all day to see the band last week was so fun, it was all anyone talked about the entire time. Life should be more like this.

I guess I am One was the first SP song I heard, come to think of it. I first heard them when i borrowed gish from a friend, so unless i started with side two, I am One was the first. Not a bad first impression; Jimmy's drums pummeling my ears.

the drum intro reminds me of cherub rock, once again starting out an album with solo drums - love the beat.
"I am one as you are three" - first time I heard the song figured it was a Christian song since its totally catholic sounding.

I HATE the dual solo's live, they never sounded good and sometimes were off timed and sounded just garbled and chaotic.

overall, similar to cherub rock, its a GREAT first track for an album... gets you in the mood to rock out.
