Oh they were... But not till after their guitarist quit and they simplified the formula.

I just read their Wikipedia page. Maida had considered firing Turner as early as the recording sessions for Clumsy. He was either going to fire Turner or fire the bassist and in the end decided to fire the bassist.
It also said Clumsy went platinum in the US so perhaps they were bigger than I remember. |

They've at least had one minor hit per album here, and then Gravity was the major hit that I heard at malls and supermarkets all through whatever season it came out.

Jeremy Taggart has a really unique style of playing drums. I think it's demonstrated the most on Happiness.

You know after you mentioned Happiness I downloaded One Man Army on Soulseek. I probably hadn't listened to that song in over 5 years.

Finger Eleven are by far the worst Canadian band I've ever heard. OLP are a quality band but Finger Eleven are just all around garbage right along with Nickleback. They deserve all the shit they get but not OLP.

Naveed (the album) brings back great memories, same with Clumsy. Also they are great live.

white spyder is actually a great song, but i get pulled out of my enjoyment of it because of the distorted mess
it seems like such a bad choice to make a record sound like shit because the last one was "too glossy" "ok just throw a bunch of static over everything" the first time i heard MII i thought there was something wrong with my copy Last edited by dreams of glass : 06-14-2015 at 11:55 PM. |

the label which originally signed off on the reissue campaign doesn't exist any more, EMI was swallowed by Universal.
so one example could be: if the new label people haven't paid for the Adore reissue yet, and not enough for the Machina production (enough being the sum that was negotiated with EMI) - they won't get Machina until that is settled. Corgan publicly running his mouth how much the Universal people suck would be a pretty bad idea, especially if they want to keep going with re-issues. |

Sorry, casual fan alert. I don't know that company, it could be Billy's.
MCIS, TAFH, and Adore reissues came out after UMG closed on EMI. Not sure why UMG would suddenly cut off support, unless the reissues were not making money |

the money part is really just one scenario that could go wrong/take more time when you have to deal with new label people, I don't know what the current hold up is all about.
but I don't imagine they were happy with the sales so far, who knows what sort of new costs came up with Machina (what was it - guest singers, new studio takes etc.?) has anyone seen actual sale numbers of the Adore reissue or any of the big/expensive ones? I don't know how you could justify to keep feeding the SP reissue campaign with money - for years now - when the financial outcome is not great. I still bet on a pre-Christmas release. |

My friend owns one of the last record stores in Tulsa. I kept up with the ordering for the reissues and how well they sold. Gish - MCIS sold out within the first week. Their inventory consisted of twelve copies of each variant for each reissue. Not a large inventory but this is Tulsa and I only see SP fans at the shows. Once TAFH came out and sold poorly they didn't order anymore. They still have most of the box sets still on the clearance table. I have wondered if this was the trend because I haven't seen the Adore box set at any of the stores I haunt in OK, AR or TX.

The Adore issue was priced too high. In the UK it's dropped from £60 to £35. But that's still twice the price of SD and Gish. It has twice the content, but I'm not convinced that content is as desirable as the other reissues.
Having said that, for a sub-£30 price point I might bite. |

So.. you don't understand the concept.

Machina II was like the other part of the Gemini. The dirty, nasty twin. Purposefully fucked production, grimy, grungy, dirty. Like licking your 1/4" cables after they've been on a beer-soaked bar floor for an entire gig. Licking them... and liking it a little bit. On top of this, Machina II was cynical and introspective. Dross is probably the only true confession Billy's ever made: http://www.spfc.org/songs-releases/s...ml?song_id=261 Glass' Theme deals with music industry largesse and egomaniacs: http://www.spfc.org/songs-releases/s...ml?song_id=259 Machina II is vastly superior to I. And Finger Eleven (Rainbow Butt Monkeys, Google it,) and Our Lady Piece were lame as fuck. |

Yeah that's an extremely hard concept to understand, not surprising it went over so many of our heads.
Or maybe it's complete bullshit and M2 was supposed to be produced like M1 (hardly clean itself), but the label backed out, Corgan had a hissy fit and leaked it unfinished and sounding like shit for "artistic reasons". |
