Special edition Zeitgeist w/DVD coming to Best Buy

I have a buddy who is a Media Supervisor at Best Buy and they flew all media supervisors to a convention in California this week and he called me to let me know about an announcement they made...

He didn't remember specific details all that well, but he said there will be a Best Buy exclusive re-release of Zeitgeist packaged with a Making-of-DVD that follows the 2 years of writing and recording Zeitgeist. It will also contain all songs recorded during the Zeitgesit recording sessions and it apparently comes in a box that "looks pretty sweet." He said he thinks he remembers the lady saying it would be coming out October 3rd, but he's almost sure she had the date wrong because that date would be A) Way too soon and B) It's a Wednesday... so a solid date would be undetermined at least from my friend.

Additionally, Best Buy will also be getting 7 exclusive guitar faceplates for Guitar Hero III - one of which is a Smashing Pumpkins skin that "looks like the American flag but has the statue of liberty on it" (Probably much like the flag logo they've been using). My friend isn't a Smashing Pumpkins fan, and even he says that both designs look really cool - so take that for whatever it's worth.

I, for one, am pretty stoked to hear this news. I'm sorry if this is old but I don't think it is - I know there were rumors of a DVD version of Zeitgeist coming out on launch but it never happened.... looks like we get it after all! Add this to the number of different versions of the album.

oh yeah, sure. let's make more $ by selling the album again to everyone who already bought it. but still, why only Best Buy and not all retailers? I guess they would get to call it an exclusive, which would explain the super special knob bobbin' deal they've got going on.

Bestbuy give them an extra little kickback, or free promotion. Or it could just be record company backroom deals, we give you a special edition you take a lose and put a different album on sale so we get a chart boost. Trust me anyone of a million reasons that have nothing to do with fans. This could all be some deal to help the sale of the next Britney Apears album for all we know.

ill believe it when i see it. i used to work at best buy back in the day.. being a media supervisor doesn't really mean anything.. and if all the media supervisors went to some super secret conference, then there would easily have been over a thousand people there and we would have heard something.

I doubt this is true. I think there will be a dvd but it won't be attached to "Zeitgeist" i think it will ******* residency live performances and a short making of the album segment.
