Villains is a great album.
People don’t like it because it’s fun.
Controversial opinion of the day.
Fuck you CW, btw

not that controversial, I can think of a few people here that would agree.

I think it blows, it sounds super overproduced, they hardly sound like a band at all.

the one before that was pretty meh too.

Villians isn't a band as much as a JH solo album. Miles removed from anything they did before, and shouldn't have been a QOTSA album. Fucking Elton John.

I dunno, I liked it, despite not being super thrilled when the lead single was premiered - but even that one I like in the context of the record

I don't see it as being that far removed from something like Era Vulgaris, either, tbh

QOTSA fans have been dismissing everything since Songs for the Deaf for not being Songs for the Deaf Pt. II, which is stupid because we all know Rated R is their best album.

here's my hottest take, served fresh

QOTSA have some good songs but overall are kind of boring and definitely overrated

Like Clockwork is definitely my favorite of the post-Deaf set, but I could never claim it as their best.

Most personal and concise? Sure.

I wouldn't say that. If anything I would say that after playing with QOTSA and hanging with Josh Homme, Dave Grohl either consciously or unconsciously made his own music sound more like QOTSA (see the change in their sound from There Is Nothing Left To Lose, to One By One

Whereas bill has an omnivorous fascination with colors textures and pop musics of all kinds (and once had the ambition to incorporate such diversity into his songwriting) josh is an addict who got very good at doing a very specific thing, and chose to create endless variations on his big dumb numbskull guitar riff invention

Just two very, very different artists

And thus a very, very dumb thread idea
