i'm afraid it has simply taken you 18+ years to birth, harbor & cultivate a wrong opinion. sorry to be the one to tell you

Machina was the album where I realized "oh, so the Smashing Pumpkins suck now". In hindsight, that was a little harsh, there's a few cool tracks on the album, but it's overall pretty shitty. Especially when compared to the bands 91-96 output.

I think between Arising, M1 & M2 there was a strong album.

From Adore-onwards Bill developed curation problems, I mean on MCIS he left off STRTJ and arguably there were some lesser album tracks it could've replaced... but on subsequent albums he started canning obvious singles for no reason or "misrepresenting" them in production eg. Yeah! and Owata.

Did they all get banned for implying that Corgan's best work isn't his current output?

Still one of my favs after all these years. He could've said Radio 20 more times and I'd be fine with it. Related to that, I remember an interview with Thom Yorke talking about writing lyrics and he said he often chose words because he liked how they sounded.

Radio=Rain drops

Sit down Stand up Lyrics

Sit down, stand up
Sit down, stand up
Walk into the jaws of hell (sit down, stand up)
Walk into the jaws of hell (sit down, stand up)
Anytime (sit down)
Anytime (stand up)
Sit down, stand up
Sit down, stand up
We can wipe you out anytime (sit down, stand up)
We can wipe you out (sit down, stand up)
Anytime (sit down)
Anytime
Stand up (the rain drops the rain drops)
Sit down (the rain drops the rain drops)
Oh
The rain drops x47

what's bad exactly

is it the shimmering guitars, the driving bass, sweet, silky drums that propel Our Bald Lorde's yearning vox? shut the FUCK up Donny you're out of your element!

are there mentions of radios on the album, per chance? maybe even multiple mentions of the playing, by these radios, of the singer's favorite song?

if not, you can KEEP that shit

yup. a couple of songs are just ok but the rest are fun. black's songwriting sounds effortless, santiago is brilliant as usual, and paz really enhances things with her background vocals.

Really interested in this idea that if a song has too many repeated lyrics, it's somehow a waste of everyone's time

Music is built on repetition unless you're a fuckin', meandering Tool song or some shit

nah, tool has plenty of repetition

whether it's too much or just fine is always a matter of taste

I have perhaps been a bit misleading; my memory of Tool is mostly just those weird little claymation videos

I disagree that one's response to repetition in music is a matter of taste

Or it needs to be more specific: it is a matter of my taste, and everyone else can get in line or go screw

IOTM is the only song I think that I only heard on the radio once and never again. Unless you count the one time I heard My Dahlia on XM
