did they tour in your parts, sj? saw them live once, that is...special. one of the greatest live acts I have ever seen.
I saw them on the Sunbather tour and they were great but was travelling when they toured New Bermuda so missed em then. Already setting aside a kitty for a trip to Melbourne when they tour again.

I've been trying to contain or redirect the torrent of thoughts and feeling this record has made me have off socmed etc. cause otherwise people will just cut me off for not ever shutting up about this album. I can't remember the last time I was in love with a record like this.

JJ i know being hyperbolic about my enjoyment of bands with blastbeats is more or less my stock-in-trade here but please trust that I am being completely sincere here when I say that this is maybe one of the best records i've ever heard in my life.

This album is incredible. The two singles are my least favs and I was actually not v. hyped at all for this release based on them.... but... wow. Truly a stunning album. Probably better than even Sunbather, although Dream House is still the greatest song of all time

I think Glint is my new fav deafheaven tune. The transition out of the super-cinematic intro into the pummelling double-kicks is so sick, and the way the riff in the last bit is like a mutant Weezer riff but it all just fits somehow...

in You Without End as the second spoken word bit ends and it gets slower like

'and he quickened his pace until he reached the softer l i g h t o f t h e s t r e e t'

and then kerry goes all Brian May and the piano is going off it's just pure bliss and the lead takes off into that like squalling two-note black metal thing but it's just mad triumphant god dammit how do they just keep getting better at this.

ok, so I've listened approximately 10 times now, and this is by far their best album, no contest. it's also probably going to be my album of the year and it's one of the best things I have heard in a long time

agree with all of this. If they make one more album this calibre they'll be in the league of challenging Converge for best metal band of the century so far.

help, I think I have album-addiction.

finally got to hear it on a decent sound system without headphones. I want to stop because I fear if I continue to overdo it I might not like this album any more in 2 months from now.

on the other hand - nah, not going to happen.

Can i recommend Ostraca's new one as a solid palette cleanser? Similar energies, short runtime.

that was perfect, thanks!

last two, Nausea and Worn Away are very much for me.

I have some form of OCD with music, I shall now enter my 72 hours phase of listening to Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds only (going to the gig tomorrow), and then I'll be good to go with Deafheaven for another week at least.

It's like Coldplay covering Explosions In The Sky with a third-class Black Metal vocalist on Top.

seriously

I just can't into this band. If you "de-blackened" the songs they're just emo

I respect them, and would probably enjoy them live, but the records fall flat for me.
