i think a lot more schools these days crack down on bullying.

if i had a kid - i don't care how much i embarrass them, they can get over that later - i will be up there in a heartbeat raising heck if some little punk tried to mess with them. get those other parents in a goddamn conference with the principal to see what we're dealing with here and figure out why the other kid is such a dick, what can be done, and just to let him know he's being watched. >_> too much?

I'd rather them be embarrassed by me than dead because they were pushed over the edge

In 9th grade a kid in gym class took one of my shoes and threw it across the gym because it came off when I went to kick a ball. I went up to him and punched him in the face. I got suspended for 3 days and he got nothing.

I got made fun of pretty much every month of my high school life for being ugly. Now I come here regularly to receive similar treatment. Yeah life's pretty cool sometimes.

getting suspended for protecting yourself and/or standing up for yourself was the worse. i could write a book about how "corrupt" the disciplinary system is (or was)

i had an art teacher who had a pathological disorder or something and kept claiming i was making fun of her smell (which i recall never doing. but even if so, we were kids. i mean...) and eventually she suspended me because two other kids in the class got into a fight. wondering how i factored into that, my mom called to ask and all the teacher said was I'M GOING TO CHAIN YOUR SON MY BUMPER AND DRIVE OFF and hung up. my mom called the vice priciple to complain and he said "don't worry we'll take care of it" and the next day i got a notice saying i had to spend the rest of the year in detention

yeah...

Pretty much yeah.

Though I got better with years.

For a long time, I actually justified being bullied because I always said or did things in an effort to be funny or to fit in, but just came off as being weird or annoying.

There were even people in my circle of friends that bullied me or said terrible things to me and about me. Some of my worst classes were ones where I had my friends, my friend's friends who would bully me, and then people who weren't friends with my friends and would bully me. My friends would sit with their friends and then there would be nowhere for me to sit that didn't feel like a hostile environment.

My daughter is going through it now... actually, the past two weeks. :/

I was bullied, mostly by Mormon and Christian kids.

Same here... I really wanted to spare her of that. I wasn't sure how I would handle it myself. It just happened. But more recently it's been awful... we have a couple of boys that walk through our neighborhood all the time, and they pulled A off her bike the other day and kicked her in the back. It's been quite a week talking to parents who don't seem to care.

Couldn't bring myself to watch the documentary yet, hardly remember the movie.

This stuck with me, it's the tone in her singing voice that pretty much sums up for me what bullying can do.

But I still do them when I can. Helps pay the bills. I never stopped except for that one year they stopped me from doing them because they thought I had Hepatitis C.... I'm actually going for a medical checkup for a medical testing tomorrow. Still alive after 15 years and probably done like 60 of them...

Did you used to be known by another name? Cause I don't remember you.

I was unfortunately a kid who was bullied and thus bullied other kids.... I still feel bad about it. I was bullied more than I picked on other kids though. Not that it makes it ok.

Is bullying a term that's mostly used for kids and teens?

I still see it at work and in my private life, and these people are 25-50.
(That's apparently rather called mobbing... yea my English sucks.)

i don't think i've ever been bullied (by kids)

i can remember a few instances of me being pretty brutal to other kids, at least three instances of making another kid cry from insulting them. after 5th grade or so i stopped doing that

in 3rd grade some kids sort of beat me up (not really, punched me in the stomach and knocked me down) for saying that pokemon sucks. when I hit the ground I remember one kid yelling, "WE ARE THE POWER!" then this girl yanked the strings on my hoodie so it closed all the way and I couldn't see and she dragged me down a hill and then begged me not to tell anyone afterward so I didn't

btw this was at recess and somehow no one saw? I felt pretty powerless and later took it out on others

I wasn't bullied and didn't bully other kids. Didn't do as much as I should have to discourage other kids from being bullied though.

Adolescence is weird.

Yeah some people never really stop being dicks. They're just more subtle about it usually. Whereas as kids and teens people are pretty direct about their bullying, later on it's often hidden under a layer of passive-aggressiveness.

I did medical studies for about a year. Had fun doing them as income because I mainly fucked off in between them. Oh to be 19 again.

yeah it's not just relegated to kids. i was bullied by a supervisor hardcore and it was a nightmare because it was high school all over again, it was pretty much shrugged off by the higher ups. then i lied to my manager and said he was threatening my life and my attorney was preparing court docs and stuff. then the dude got demoted

What's the difference between what you're describing and mobbing?

I'm not good at handling this sort of thing at work. I used to ignore it but that seems to invite more of the same behavior. The usual stuff starts with "this is not a job for women" and "how old are you?" followed by "jokes" how many important cocks I must have sucked to get the job.
Now it's also comments about the European Jewish mafia dictating American media.
It's one thing to ignore shit thrown at myself, it's another when I find a trainee sobbing in the toilet because she was told to go to LA and try it in porn instead of doing real work.
