I would love to do that...but bills, man. Bills...
But yeah if I had more money I'd be totally into that. I got up and washed the dishes and got to the govt dept 5 minutes before closing, bought myself a coffee at the mall & some cookies for the boys, then did some grocery shopping and came home and made lasagna for dinner. But after that I did go to yoga with a friend, and then we had a jog on the treadmill and bitched about all the things in lives we can't stand...so that was pretty good. |

I have this book of coupons that expires at the end of May and I'm trying to use them up - one was a 2-for-1 deal at a cookie place. Actually it was a 2-for-1 coffee-and-combo deal, so I drank 2 lattes and bought them a cookie each. It's the school holidays and I had to work and pay a babysitter to watch the kids and come home exhausted...I'm so broke. My babysitter costs $15/hr which on my salary is a lot of money. So it was more cheap thrills than guilt...

lol
i also hate those super obvious deals like buy 1 beef stick for 1.50 or get 2 for $2. f that. i'm getting the beef stick i want and keeping the change. i'm not gonna spend more money than necessary because it's a good deal (say whaaat?!). unless it's on toilet paper or some junk. if you hadn't had that coffee, you would've been home earlier, thus saving on babysitter costs.

The boys were with me at that stage...I leave at 8:30am and get back at 1:00pm, I pay the baby sitter for those hours...cookies were bought at 5:15pm after I procrastinated all afternoon about going to get the refund and washing the dishes. Kinda spurred myself on out of the house with the promise of two lattes for the price of one. Which is tragic but there you go.

$3.50- $4.00. The cookie & coffee deal was $5.50, and cookies by themselves are $2.95. Which is why I never go there, so it was a treat for the boys, for being dragged to the govt dept. So with the coupon I got 2 x $3.50 lattes, and 2 x $2.95 cookies, a total value of $12.90, for $5.50. Which isn't too bad. Like I say, when you have stuff to get done that you don't want to do, and a budget of $10 for the rest of the day, it's a cheap thrill. I also bought some tomatoes and red kidney beans and went home and made lasagna.

Having the same problem again today - don't want to clean up. But today I have two families coming over to bake hot cross buns and do some Easter crafts with us (I feel guilty for doing this stuff with other people's children at work so I end up doing it at home with my own kids and their friends). So that will motivate me to clean. Which is another part of why I invited them over, actually.

It isn't that easy with kids. I don't have the same choices that i did before...my happiness is inextricably linked to their happiness - so even if I can't stand housework and errands, because it makes them happy for me to be at home to do all that stuff and chat to them and everything, I'd still rather do that than send them away and work more away from home. I've heard that if you make time to talk about the little things now, they're more likely to come an talk to you about the big things later. And kids spell love t-i-m-e...stuff like that. Relationships are built by spending lots of time together - you'll know that from travelling, how joyful companions are when you do everything with them. I believe I have been given my kids to shepherd and teach and love and care for...it isn't something I can just step away from because the finer details bore me sometimes. It's my life's highest calling.
