I know it's obvious but
"All Blues" is like, transcendentally good.
the haunting main vamp... mile's creamy subdued solo... adderly doin his thing... coltrane's fucking wizardry... bill evan's incredible cluster chords and davis bringing it home with the mute fuck. I revisit it every year and I'm just like....ugh |

i mean obviously the whole album deserves it's reputation, but this song especially is like...if you're gonna do cool bop, it can't be done any better

in college I was stupid into jazz and bought a shitload of davis and coltrane CDs, plus monk, mingus, cannonball adderley, herbie hancock, etc.
