Yeah, guy at the pet store who sold us the salamander said he could live with other fishes with no issue. He couldn't be more wrong.
Fishes are assholes. Eventually me and my mom let that fishtank become a free for all nature microcosm and stopped caring for it. After months there was one surviving fish and we though "ok, this one deserves to live in a clean aquarium and a fresh start". We took her out to clean the aquarium and the cat fished it and ate the last surviving fish. |

Every fish I've ever owned died I've always wanted a sea horse but I don't want mini-dragon blood on my hands.

Seahorses need a salt water fishtank too. That always seemed way too complicated to take care of.
Regular fishtanks are tough enough as is. |

i know, it's kinda tough to make it work. it's almost as if those marine creatures were meant to swim in the sea and not serve as living room objects

I'm in London in a sketchy airbnb. I got sick yesterday and spent today in bed, letting the AIDS fully take a hold of my body. I kind of need to be better for tomorrow for some more recordings.
I completely realize how it must have been to be Freddie Mercury recording the final Queen albums though, which is a very important experience to meeeee, to me. Anyway the wind blows. |

As long as the album doesn't blow, all is justified.

I once took a sick day off school and, quite possibly to comfort me, my cat went about the task of inexplicably presenting a total of four goldfish as gifts throughout the course of the day. No idea where they came from, though I'm guessing a neighbor's pond went all low population on them.
One of them was still kicking when it came to me and I housed it in water for a few hours, its color gradually draining from a shiny orange to the pale white of death as it presumably bled out. |

we had fish when i was growing up, first in a 10 gal tank and then we also had one that was like 35 or 40 gallons or something. well i dont remember what i was doing, cleaning the 10 gallon or just playing around (i must have been around 10) and i somehow injured this one clown loach and it stopped being able to swim around. i felt so bad. don't remember it dying so maybe it was temporary or maybe i just forgot what happened after but i was quite sure i had indirectly killed it

The worst is when ppl buy fish for their kids who are too young to know they really don't want fish and then no one cleans the tank and then you can't even see the poor doomed guppies thru the shitgreen sludgewalls of the glass of the tank

I think kids should be encouraged early that we don't imprison other sentient life forms for no other reason than our pure idle enjoyment
But I was not so taught, rather indulged (i suspect b/c it was easier and i was a whiner) Had a sad nervous parakeet, multiple bewildered garter snakes, a tarantula (after mac culk in home alone ofc) who fucken HATED me and who we had to feed crickets bought a minimum of 50 at a time from the bait shop. This spider ate like one cricket a week but meanwhile there's 50 slowly dying in this stinky convenient cardboard cricket house Fuck my childhood was a tragedy for so many beings |

I bought a fish last October and it died in June. It was a betta fish, I think
Feel pretty bad, but I like to think it had a better time with me than in the tiny little tupperware in Walmart |

our fish tank experience started with me winning 2 goldfish at a school fair. one of them lived for 2 years in that stupid little bowl. at least the other fish had room and a filter and stuff. though i agree keeping them like that is sorta fucked up too

it did. walmart treats their fish absolutely horribly. the employees aren't really trained to handle live animals so it's not 100% their fault. walmart just sucks but i need their prices.

for some reason your avatar makes me feel like pale princess (and old boarder) is posting. she had someone else as an avatar, in fact i think a succession of blonde women, but in my periphery for some reason it is making me feel this way
