it was impossible to buy a new pc with windows 7, so i ended up with 8.
i didn't want that, but it's not too bad.
why didn't you just get a windows 7 boot disc & reformat it?

hmm, well before immediately resorting to pirating software, don't you like to check out what the PC you've just bought can actually bring to the table?

i also preferred to buy 7 but i finally had to go for windows 8.1 at home, and i don't think it's a step down. booting is fast and i get to use apps if I want. it was very easy to set up for multiple users.

wow, who the fuck said anything about "pirating" software
plenty of stand-alone boot disks out there if he was wanting 7 enough to know that no one was actually offering it built-in anymore

as for 8, i think most people's problem with it mostly has to do with the steeper learning curve re: actually getting to certain applications or even file folders on there at first, i mean shit just finding how to get to your My Computer folder on that thing was a journey for me at first

honestly i kinda think disco's assessment was the most spot-on so far, and i've only used vista sparingly myself but i don't know if i've ever even heard a single positive review on it or anything

but regardless finding an os "okay" or "not bad" doesn't mean you don't still want to try out the previous version again, it's not that big of a deal

but how would you actually activate it without purchasing or pirating? or do you not understand how software licensing works?

they skipped 9. the end.

i'm assuming they are going to change the naming scheme going forward, but that's just a guess really. i'm sure google knows why. i dont care enough to ask it.

I think it had to do with a lot of third-party programmes having codes that checked for operating systems like 95 and 98 by essentially asking "if the OS is Windows 9x", so calling this Windows 9 would fuck with computer code shit or something, I dunno

Kind of surprised that they didn't call it "Windows One" to line up with the Xbox One and the OneDrive and all those other oney things. Especially because this is supposed to be Windows' last operating system. Like, the only "one" you'll ever need. And it's kind of integrated across devices (talks to your other Microsoft products pretty well), so it would had made sense, because it's "one platform for everything." Fuck, they need to fire their marketing team and put me on it.

windows 10 fucks up your ability to connect to a tv or monitor via HDMI. You have to uninstall something every time you want to do so, or else not be able to change your screen's brightness

windows has basically been trying to rape me into upgrading for at least the past 8 months and i just keep dragging that window over the corner of my screen. don't need that shit right now, thank you. i can't really see any other scenario for windows 10 other than it getting me pissed off.
