I said that Slowdive was the last great English band. I also said that Radiohead are an exception.

badly drawn boy, are you kidding? Ugh. There may be 10 (maximum) exceptions to what i said, but relative to American music, my point stands.

very good point. also whitehouse. david thomas broughton. and fuck it i really like the clientele. and klaxons. the new throbbing gristle and psychic tv albums also have their high points

grmpf this reminds me of that thread about einstürzende neubauten being the first industrial band

My grandmother bought me Favorite Worst Nightmare as a graduation gift since she can't afford more than that and she doesn't really know what I like. I guess she walked into some place and asked what was popular. It is still unopened after 2 months. I feel bad not listening to it at least once, but they just suck so bad.
