Talking KNIGHTS OF MALTA = Third single of "Shiny And So Bright Vol. 1"

Third single of the hopefully "Shiny and Oh so Bright" first new album will be "Knights of Malta".
It's also the first track of the album.

Not announced officially, the next hit is already pressed as a seven inch vinyl with the other singles in this box set.

Let's hope, it's not as cringeworthy, as the name of the title sometimes may suggest...

Who are the Knights of Malta?

https://www.reuters.com/article/pope...-idUSKBN15D05Y

The Knights of Malta, an ancient Catholic order which operates as global charity, has its headquarters on one of Rome’s most exclusive streets, the cobble-stoned Via Condotti where red-and-white flags bearing the Maltese Cross fly above the entrance.

The leadership of the order — formally, the Sovereign Military Hospitaller Order of Saint John of Jerusalem of Rhodes and of Malta — has been locked in a battle with the Vatican for the past two months. [L5N1FI0KT]

Here are some facts about the order:

- The Knights of Malta started in 1048 as the Order of St. John of Jerusalem, a monastic community which ran a hospital for pilgrims in the Holy Land. In 1113, it became a lay religious order, with all knights bound by the three monastic vows of poverty, chastity and obedience. It later became a military order to defend its centres and access roads.

- In 1291, after the loss of the Holy Land, it moved to the island of Cyprus. In 1310, it moved to Rhodes and became a major naval force in the Mediterranean. The Knights were defeated by the forces of Sultan Suleiman the Magnificent in 1523 and moved to Malta, where they stayed until 1798, when they were forced to leave by Napoleon.

- The order settled definitively in Rome in 1834 and since then it has concentrated on its original mission, mostly through its humanitarian aid arm, Maltaser International.

- Today the institution is a worldwide charity that counts 13,000 members, 80,000 volunteers and some 25,000 paid employees, most of them medical staff.

- The top leadership consists of the Grand Master, the Grand Commander, the Grand Chancellor, the Grand Hospitaller and the Receiver of the Common Treasure (finance minister). They sit above a Sovereign Council, made up of six members.

- The all-male top leaders are not clerics, but they take vows of poverty, chastity and obedience to the pope.

- The institution has the status of a sovereign entity, maintaining diplomatic ties with more than 100 states and the European Union. It also has permanent observer status at the United Nations.

Red face

The knights of William Patrick Corgan, Vol. 2018:

Sieh dir diesen Beitrag auf Instagram an

This is a post of appreciation. Which is something I've done far too little of in these years of being in the 'ol spotlight; which, depending who you ask, can be an intoxicating, humiliating, frightening, exhilarating, denigrating. Which might explain what people in the biz like to call LSD: lead singer disease. But what I'd like to say applies to life, too. And business, or the business of life. So let's start with my partner, Chloe. Who is a wonderful person, and without whom, I believe, I wouldn't be enjoying as much public acclaim (although the stabilizing of life behind the scenes is now 6 years in and counting). Then there's James, Jimmy, Jeff, Jack, and Katie, all of us still on this magical Shiny tour. And Howard, who is helping me mix the new solo album. And Linda editing the new Silvery video. The point being I can name lots of names, most you wouldn't know, who help with so many things: staging, management, home, etc. For a big life requires lots of assistance and care. And then there's @brandonrike and his team, who've done the fantastic art for the tour and now, new SP LP (No Past. No Future, No Sun.) And it dawned on me the other day looking at this art then when I've been my best and led by example, others, like Brandon, have rallied around my efforts and helped make the incredible videos, and done so many things for us, quietly, that I could write a whole book of just those contributions. So yes, it's easy to say I-I-I-I, and sometimes it is a fair statement, but more often then not it is inaccurate. In pro wrestling, at the @NWA, we work as a team, celebrate as a team and often commiserate as a team, and thanks to the leadership of David Lagana (NWA VP) we've built the kind of contributory culture that I wished I'd understood better as a young man, so that I could have more readily shown my appreciation. Yet, and this is no excuse, the music business SP entered was, and still can be, very predatory, which used dividing us personally as a way to conquer us professionally (which is another story for another time). So yes this is a celebratory message, however hamfisted, to say I am grateful for all the help I've received, and continue to receive.

Jeez, 3 singles off an 8-song album? This is less than Monuments! Unless there's an epic or 2 the run-time may even be shorter. I think the positive reviews for Monuments, that emphasized the shorter running time must have influenced him.

The album title is almost self-parody. No Past, No Future, No Sun is OK, wonder why he tagged the Shiny and Oh So Bright bit on?

If Billy's talking bout writing a book maybe he should finish his autobiography, how many years back was the blog postings - 2005 or 2006?

notice how he names chloe, then goes on to say nothing about her at all, except that she's made him better over the last 6 years. even his mid life crisis attempts at humility are only about him. this guy sucks

How old is mendel? 26?
They don't fit as a couple.
Give them 3 more years until the break up.
Billy seems chilled now as a father.
I think that being a father was a big goal.

He’s got the son, next he’s got to find himself a sailor.

Maybe a shape-shifting one that dresses up like Courtney Love.

He talked about this in the Zane Lowe interview, it's a collection of 8 songs with no over-arching theme that makes it an album. James and Jim seem to have insisted that they do things like this for now. He described it as 'like Pisces'.

Also no epics, all 3-4 mins max (based on what Insta)

Cheers, I haven't had a chance to listen to the interview yet. So the deal was this was going to be an EP, is that right? And JC and JI talked him into a proper album release? I wasn't really paying attention.

It was more, let's just do some music. Doesn't need to match the movement of the stars. It's Implied there will be a vol 2 of another 8 or so songs put together without a cohesive vision.

Bill then goes on a tangent explicitly saying the band has 'one last epic whatever in them. The other two are not seemingly convinced.

An album doesn't need epics but I feel like if it only consists of 8 songs, one or two of them should be epics. And if not, well, then all 8 tracks had better be damn good.

0 for 2 so far.
